Gives both accountability and a great example for the younger guys to follow, especially the kids coming up from Hamilton. He is All Heart, I love it. But he does have some leadership qualities and will be fine as the extra forward i guess. A steal? i wouldnt qualify it as such, but again; another smart, cheap, conservative signing by Gauthier and Darche can act as mentor to AHLers looking to crack lineup. And yes, you cant question Darch's effort level. couldn't ask for a better bottom 6 guy. I moved it to today with Kostitsyn's signing, guess I shouldn't have. (For the record, I was going to say he was going to get around $750k from the Habs.) Guess I'm writing about Halpern then. For $700k, you're not going to get a whole lot, that's what the 4th liners/reserve forwards make. Darche has shown he can be useful and brings a bit of size to the team...and the fact he's a local doesn't hurt either. It's not a steal by any stretch but good value nonetheless.
