#9 is my favourite play from last season.

Was sitting in the Bell Centre with my girlfriend when it happened.

She had a crush on Juda$arek, until he left for the Leafs, then she wanted to kill him.... when he made that pass to Cammalleri it was glorious.

She's a good girl, crazy about sports and the Habs especially.

Which is good... because I never have to fight with her about what we are gonna watch on TV.

And there is no debate when I want to order a Super Sports Pack or something for the cable.... she's in support of buying it.

I enjoyed those 'victory keys.' And the highlights were great (my favourite: PK flattening Marchand).

All these years and I still get stoked for the opening of the regular season! I hate playing the Leafs, though...in this case because our real rivalry nowadays is with Boston, but you'd never know that in The Centre of the Universe.

Nice game thread and I liked the victory keys idea.

Our lineup looks pretty good and I'm loving the depth but I have to wonder what we will do with all of the players when healthy. With Markov, Eller and White back that will leave us with Yemelin, Weber and Diaz with nowhere to play.

This won't be an easy game for the Habs, by any stretch. The Leafs are 'inferior' competition, but they are better than last year and will be stoked to get that first win in front of their home crowd.

The same can be said of Sunday's game in Winnipeg against the Jets. Both teams are beatable but will both want the home win and to use it as a jumping point.

Montreal will be in tough but I think Price will be the difference tonight!

At first, I thought the T.O lineup looked a little weak, with Grabo as their number 1 center! Yet they've got a few players on each line that can score goals, so the Habs just got to be aware and play their game -- they do have a better team on paper.

Wonderful game thread btw!

T-Minus 7 hours!

Grabs is a legitimate #2 C - which is what many people say about Pleks - so I wouldn't heap scorn on them in that respect. And Toronto's D is pretty good. Reimer is a wild card. Over the course of a season, our roster should pull us well ahead of theirs, but there is much truth to the cliché that these days any team can beat any other team on any given night. Kamal is right, this won't be a cakewalk. But if our guys can rise to TO's passion we should win.

I've had a bet with a leaf fan every year since the lockout.

We bet $20 per game... paid at the end of the season, for all head to head Habs vs Leafs matchups. (no shootout/OT points.... W and L only)

Noone has collected a dime yet, as the record always ends up 4-4, or 3-3.

What does this tell you, despite being the better team on paper, these games are tough, and filled with much emotion. Both teams get up a little bit for a Toronto/Montreal matchup, and so, either one can win on any given day.

That said. Go Habs Go.

I'm so pumped that my heart is racing already! Can't wait to see this group play a meaningful game.

Although looking at our defense for tonight, I am a bit concerned. It's amazing the difference Markov would make in the lineup. Go Habs!

That's the problem with being a Montreal Canadien fan. You're always up with super emotive, huge clash or big time rivalry openings. We never open against low profile teams à la Florida or NJ.

But this is not a reason for not ruining Toronto AND Winnipeg's days !!!!

Blair Betts has a slight lower body injury (JM said he might play Sunday) but is out for the night.

Andreas Engqvist recalled for tonight.

Also the Canadiens confirmed that our Russian Defenceman does not have a Y at the start of his last name. His jersey will say Emelin, and so will all team materials (website, programs, team locker, etc... )

Agreed that Price will make the difference tonight.

Reimer might be all nerves on opening night with a city scrutinizing his every move.

The Habs have better offense this time around, but Toronto will have the crowd.

Hope we get the crowd out of it early.

3-1 Habs
