Commandant
Sounds like Juolevi will go back to Europe for the year if he doesn't make the Canucks. Mete (who outplayed Juolevi last year anyway) will be the undisputed #1 D in London.
dlbalr
Ikonen will play in the upcoming WJC summer showcase for Finland after making it through the roster cutdowns (not really a surprise). Here's a good read/scouting report on him: https://scoutinghabs.wordpress.com/2017/07/22/joni-ikonen-betting-on-skill/

So think his recovery to pro level shape is a ways off yet. Reway almost certainly had a viral myocarditis. He's very lucky. For some, this is a fatal illness. If he's back on the ice, his cardiac function has returned to baseline by either ECHO or MRI exam. He needs time for conditioning. His chubbiness may owe to steroidal treatment. Would be great if he can suit up for Laval in the fall and do well.

Or wonder if Habs can let him simply play Czech league, even though he has a contract with Habs?

DON
I imagine many NHL scouts, GMs or Mgmt staff will attend these 'summer showcases'? http://www.usahockeyarena.com/page/show/3503158-full-wjss-schedule- And then on to Ivan Hlinka on Aug 7th. https://www.hockeyprospect.com/2017-ivan-hlinka-memorial-tournament/ Edited July 29, 2017 by DON add Hlinka bit
dlbalr
Poehling is listed as the #1C for USA White against Finland today. Ikonen is on Finland's 2nd line (notably as the RW). DON
Poehling 1a, Ikonen 7 shots in two games. Both USA teams play both Canadian teams today.
dlbalr
For those interested in watching the tournament, TSN has picked up the feed for some of the games starting tomorrow.
dlbalr
Poehling had an assist and three shots in an 8-2 crushing of Canada White. Fortunately, the two Montreal prospects are in the nightcap (1-0 Canada after 2). Based on the scheduling, both Canada and the US will make cuts as they drop down to one team each before Wednesday's games.
