Where might Kapanen play if stands out, 4th line? Depends exactly how much he stands out ... personally, I doubt they keep him as a 4th liner unless he will get lots of PP and/or PK time as well ... and even then likely not. Complete bust 💩 Seriously though, from the game clips that I’ve watched, Demidov is skilled and creative at a high level.

dlbalr
An interview with Koivu in Finnish - the takeaway is that he feels he's a better player now than Saku was at this point in time. https://www.is.fi/sm-liiga/art-2000010689038.html

I should have phrased that a little better. Aatos says he feels that he's better now compared to Saku at 18. (His shot was a big reason for that statement.) Commandant
Its still a heck of a statement since Saku was a first rounder at 18, in the NHL two years later, and looking like a superstar shortly after that (before the knee injury). I get that players need self-confidence but shot or not, this is a delusional claim. Consider also that Saku was shooting with either a wooden or one of the very early aluminum sticks at that age, I'd hope your shot with a one-piece composite is better. Peter Puck
Many people considered Saku the best player in the world, not in the NHL during his final year before joining the habs. Safe to say no one feels that way about Aatos.

Safe to say no one feels that way about Aatos. Yeah, the Aatos considers himself better than Saku has the same vibes as Pavel Bure saying, my younger brother Valeri is better than me; or the Staal brothers saying Jarrett is the best of us; or a number of other such crazy claims. tomh009
So, reading it in Finnish, there may be a bit more nuance to the quote. Allow me to try translating ... "It's too early to say (whether he could turn out to be better than Saku), but, for sure, I'm a better player than my father was at my age. It's still a long way to his career achievements, but at least my shot is already better than what he had at his best." Now, Saku was a first-rounder, but his selection was based on his potential more than his capabilities in his draft year. Aatos was selected much later, so it's safe to say that (most?) teams did not see the same kind of potential in him as they saw in Saku. I really have no memory of Saku in his draft+1 year in order to compare to Aatos, though. I don't know how Aatos himself is making the comparison, whether it's from Saku, coaches or someone else, as he hadn't been born yet by that time!
