Yes, a tripping one. But was back on near end of game though.

Heard Evgeny Kuznetsov (5pts 9gms) is now out injured for 6 weeks, which should give Demidov more ice, but less talent to play with.

European Habs Prospects: Demidov producing consistently in KHL (habseyesontheprize.com)

"... His disadvantage is that the SKA coaching is a bit so-so at times, and in Sunday’s game he was benched after taking a tripping penalty while having been one of SKA’s best players until then."

"...Still belongs to Timrå, but looks like he may begin the season in Montreal, especially with the Patrik Laine injury."

"Rohrer has had a fantastic start to his season. He has four goals in six games, and has scored in different ways. He has increased his ice time since last year, and he shaved his hair off to challenge himself. His early season success has meant that younger players in the Zürich system have asked their parents to shave their heads, too"

KHL coaches sound a lot like NHL coaches ... From Russian to French (via ClickBait30) to English (via Google Translate😞

SKA St. Petersburg head coach Roman Rotenberg appears to have completely lost his mind when he drastically reduced the playing time of one of his best strikers, Ivan Demidov, in the match against Dynamo Minsk.
...
How can one of the team's best players end up benched like this?

Rotenberg, who looked visibly uncomfortable after the game, apologized profusely for the decision. According to him, Dynamo Minsk were a "very strong opponent" who were able to capitalize on the slightest mistake or lost duel.

"If we want to cement our defense, everyone has to follow the game plan. It doesn't matter what name is on the jersey ," he justified in a press conference, clearly targeting the attacker whose defensive play he criticizes.

"We have to play for the team and not for its own navel."

...

"I am convinced that Ivan is developing, he plays a lot with us. He trains with great players, veterans, many of whom have played in the NHL."

"They've played hundreds of games! They've won the Stanley Cup, there are guys who have lifted the Gagarin Cup. Some have won Olympic gold. So, he has a lot to learn."

But, some say he sucks as a coach.

Havent heard any positives noted about him, but maybe the kid needed a wake up call, or Putin suggested (wink wink...) the benching?

Hage looked really good tonight.

Here is his game shifts, he is #19;

From the look of it he is #1 PP man?, carrying puck up and being fed puck once in offensive zone. So he likely will get lots of offensive opportunities this year.

Yes, he is such a smooth skater, has a dynamic element to his game.  Whenever I see highlights of Hage I find it hard to believe there were 20 guys taken before him.

Maybe is simply the uniform, but just reminded me of a young Pacioretty with his skating, but a better playmaker.

He seems smart & shifty and blew through Minni end to end several times.

Hage plays again today.

Demidov already played today, no game stats yet.

Is no surprise for KHL rookies, or even for rookies in the NHL to see little icetime or be healthy scratches.
