He's still about six weeks away from returning but looks like he didn't have much of a choice here as Rimouski went in another direction and there was no trade interest in him.

One can never really tell with goalies, but he's definitely not ranked near the top of the prospect list.

 

That fourth-round pick was the result of a series of deferrals from the original 2021 fourth-round pick the Habs got for Nick Cousins, so not much lost there.

Honourable Mention: Vincenz Rohrer (Zurich, NL) – Oliver Kapanen easily could have been the pick here as well but I wanted to mention Rohrer who could very well be next year’s Kapanen as the prospect who signs and then surprises many by making a run at a roster spot in Montreal.

Very much so. 17 minutes TOI rather than 11, 3 minutes PP TOI rather than 1. Michkov was second on his team for PP time (within 10 seconds of top player), Demidov is 14th.

Possible?  Yes
But let's start with hopefully it is possible he is a serious contender to be the 3C next season.

I certainly expect that Kapanen makes the team out of camp but I also expect Roy there too. 
 

Roster space is getting tight, more so if we re-sign Evans

If HuGo feel the 2025-26 roster is too crowded I would not expect a Gallagher or Anderson buyout ... but I might wonder if they consider looking for a deal while retaining a significant amount of AAV ... 50% of course the max ... both players have significant cap hits in the 2025-26 season, so retention may be the logical option *** IF *** they can be moved.
