I wonder if throwing a little under the table cash at the GM of SKA Saint Petersburg would get Demidov released the minute his team is eliminated?

Throwing money under the table in Russia? What a novel idea. Has that ever worked?  LOL  Anyway I am sure Hughes will do everything possible (without breaking any laws) to get Demidov over here as quick as possible.

New Jersey has a prospect they'd like to get over and play right away and are being told flat out no, even with that player being on an expiring deal anyway.  If they're not playing nice with him, they're not going to play nice with Demidov.  I'm pretty sure they'll want to hold Demidov's rights and releasing him in advance precludes that from happening so a bribe of sorts probably won't entice them.

There is also the threat of being found in violation of the CBA and Salary Cap if you get caught.

We arent Vegas where Bettman will just look the other way or make new rules on Robin Lehner's mental health.

This could be poor wording by Frenchy here but if Demidov is playing centre I believe that would be a first.

Demidov has said that he can play centre but he has been a winger all season (often scratched too), AFAIK

Gotta wonder if Hughes has politely asked coach Rotten (with a case of vodka), if SKA can try Demidov at centre to see if that is a serious option for Montreal to consider

I think staying in college makes sense for him but his season isn't done yet.  They're 6th in the overall rankings so they should make the Frozen Four tournament (16 teams).

We can all hope but Evans rise from 7th rounder to contributing NHLer is very rare.

The thing about Evans in his third season at ND, he was second on the team behind only Anders Bjork in scoring.  His final year, he was the man on that hockey team and everything revolved around him.  He faced the other team's best night after night for those two years and if his line with Bjork, or later him leading his line wasnt going, then ND was in big trouble.  Despite this they were a goal away from a national title at one point.

Sam Harris is on a much better team who has won championships the last two years.  Hes scoring similar numbers to Evans and hes done well but at no point is he THE MAN for Denver.  Hes 5th in scoring on the team.  He needs to go back to school so that he can have a couple years where he is the main man for his team and see if he can still produce and lead them to wins rather than just being the secondary scoring.  Its a big jump.  Hopefully he can do it.

Euro kids.

https://www.habseyesontheprize.com/montreal-canadiens-european-prospect-report-its-playoff-time-demidov-kapanen-rohrer/

"... The difference might be that this year the expectations with the Rocket are different and Kapanen’s skill would be a very welcome addition to a deep playoff run. With the Canadiens in a playoff run, there is another interesting thought that Kapanen could join the main team for a push and a bit of playoff experience when push comes to shove."

"Rohrer himself also is looking forward to the Worlds with Austria."

I hope Dynamo wins in 4 straight and the coach is fired.

By all accounts, the coach is an idiot ... but when it comes to Demidov I'm not certain the choices are his ... icetime would likely double, or more, if he signed an extension.

Well losing in 4 straight in the first round would be embarrassing for SKA, and the Dictator who runs Russia and cheers for them won't be happy.

Coach and Management will be lucky if being fired is the worst that happens to them.

2 more months to go in contract.

Saw noted even if knocked out of KHL playoffs, they might send him to MHL playoffs.

He joins Laval when his SHL season is over.  Hughes said this at the trade deadline.
