sakiqc
Kristo is not one of the finalists for the Hobey Baker Award. That's a bit of a surprise. Interesting.. Well, at least he got one award from the CHN!
dlbalr
Sebastian Collberg suffered a minor concussion which prevented him from playing the final playoff games with Frolunda's junior team. However, he is expected to fly to Montreal to be evaluated and if he gets the green light, will play the final 5 games of Hamilton's season. https://twitter.com/Sz1909_Szemberg/status/320199496569069568 (No one seems to know whether he'll play on just an ATO or an ATO tacked onto an ELC yet, let's hope for the latter...) dlbalr
Anyone remember Christopher Heino-Lindberg, Montreal's 6th rounder in 2003? He was the higher selected of the two goalies the Habs picked that year (Halak was in the 9th round). It turns out that he retired in 2011 due to injury and is now trying to carve out a career for himself as a singer. That's a bit of an interesting career change,
Commandant
Kristo is not one of the finalists for the Hobey Baker Award. That's a bit of a surprise. I think the incident with the drinking hurt him. Bad press was also the reason Frattin was robbed in his year. Hobey voters want good character in the winner. thehabbit
Its not about good character, its about good obedience.
dlbalr
Kamloops (Bozon) is off to the 3rd round after a 4-3 OT win over Kelowna last night, one that would appear to be referee-aided (powerplays were 11-1 for the Blazers). However, Bozon remains out indefinitely with an upper body injury; hopefully he gets healthy in time to play some games.
dlbalr
Bozon (who was believed to have a broken hand) was on the trip to Portland and according to their coach, could be back in the lineup tomorrow. As he is the only junior/college/Euro prospect still playing at the moment, this is nice.
Commandant
Bozon 2g 2a in a 5-1 Kamloops win last night. 2-1 for Portland in the series.

dlbalr
Danny Kristo has been named to Team USA for the World Championships At least we'll have one player to follow. It doesn't look like Nygren's even getting a sniff for Sweden as a 7th D.
dlbalr
The Habs have invited forward Brady Shaw to the first of their development camps in June. He has spent the past two seasons in the BCHL. http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=153106 http://www.habsworld.net/out.php?17072 (3/4 of the way down)
dlbalr
Andreas Engqvist signs a two year extension with Atlant Mytishchi of the KHL. The Habs will still hold his rights for a few months after that contract expires.
dlbalr
Bozon was held pointless with a -2 rating in last night's 4-1 loss to Portland. As a result, the Blazers have been eliminated from the series, also by a count of 4-1. Bozon had that one strong game that Commandant noted but was held pointless the rest of the series. dlbalr
Bozon will play for France at the Worlds That's good news, another player to keep tabs on at least. This thread shall live on for another few weeks.
Commandant
That's good news, another player to keep tabs on at least. This thread shall live on for another few weeks. We've still got two guys in the Memorial Cup too, (who we've forgotten all about because they haven't played in forever).

I know, but that doesn't start for a while yet. Bozon/Kristo give us something to follow until we get to the Memorial Cup.

JMMR
Hudon is signed http://canadiens.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=669236 Good for him. He'll be in junior next year though right?
dlbalr
Good for him. He'll be in junior next year though right? Yep...unless he makes the NHL team of course. Presuming he doesn't, he'll be eligible for a contract slide.
Commandant
Yep...unless he makes the NHL team of course. Presuming he doesn't, he'll be eligible for a contract slide. Which helps our cap a few thousand... not much, but it helps.
dlbalr
Which helps our cap a few thousand... not much, but it helps. Savings are savings; three players on a slide with a max signing bonus frees up ~$100k in cap space.
dlbalr
It looks like the cap hit will be at least $750,000 for Hudon. (Capgeek has it at $650k but with a $75k signing bonus yearly, the cap hit has to be that high.)
Commandant
Habs sign Mike Condon Decent college goalie, but he's a project before making the NHL. He'll add some goalie depth for the AHL next year though. Wasn't one of my top picks for goalies out of college (outside the top 3).
dlbalr
Some twitter notes from Steve Ewen, a reporter from the Vancouver Province, on the Dalton Thrower WHL trade: Dalton Thrower says he's known about the trade from Saskatoon to Vancouver for about four days, so he's had time to process it. If you count today as one of those days, that means he knew about the trade Friday, or only a handful of hours after the team was actually eliminated. That's awfully fast. Dalton Thrower says "proud to be a Giant," but also says the #Habs have told him they plan on him making their AHL team next year. Something to keep an eye on. They don't have to sign him until next June. If he were to sign, there would be five RH d-men down there next year (Thrower, Dietz, Ellis, Pateryn, and Nygren), I have to think at least one of those would be ECHL bound. Dalton Thrower's agent is Gerry Johannson, who is tight with Giants GM Scott Bonner, so Vancouver will be in loop early on #Habs plans. That's the same agent that Carey Price has. Nothing to read into there though. https://twitter.com/steveewen
