dlbalr
It's looking good for Nygren in terms of making the Swedish team as a cut was made today to bring Sweden's defence corps to 8. It's not uncommon for countries to bring 8 blueliners to a tournament so it looks as if he'll at least be there. Mayer looks like he could be the #3 for the Swiss as well. So if makes team, fires a few bombs from point for goals and maybe then.. he is tradable asset?, something like a 2nd round pick? Likely no chance of something like that happening? Or do you think he may be good enough to play as #6/7 d-man with Habs next fall?

I don't think he's anything more than a 3rd pairing guy on that team...although that should still allow him to be a PP specialist at the very least. If he's a 15 minute player (PP specialist + 3rd pairing time), I don't think it does much for his value. If he's a 20+ minute player and plays well, then other teams might take notice. DON
What is chance both Thrower & Vail get signed by June 1st?
dlbalr
It's hard to say but I like Thrower's chances more than Vail's. It sounds like the Habs had a big part in the decision to shut Thrower down earlier in the year (and are the ones who pushed for surgery) while his agent acknowledged that there have been contract talks. With Vail, there has been nothing. They made him the first cut out of rookie camp and while he was with Hamilton, he hardly got a look. There's room to sign both and personally I'd like both signed but my guess right now is that Thrower signs, Vail doesn't (and perhaps gets dealt for a 6th/7th by the end of this month). DON
Season may be closing soon for Hudon-Gregoire-Condon all are now down 2-1 in their playoffs and play again today.
DON
Wheeling play tomorrow. Gregoire got his 6th, but Anthony Mantha gets his 21st and BC trail 2-1 in 3rd.
dlbalr
Mantha scores again - shorthanded with under 5 to play. That might do it. Hudon's leading both teams with 8 shots but 0 have been classified as 'dangerous.' Edit: That didn't do it, Baie-Comeau scored on the same PP that Val-D'Or scored the shorty on. DON
Cool; Gregoire assists on OT winner and down to a best of three.
dlbalr
Nygren and Reway have both officially been registered for the Worlds. Mayer hasn't, however. He's with the team as the 3rd goalie (Berra is 1, Genoni 2) but my guess is that the Swiss are hoping Hiller gets eliminated and comes over which would boot Mayer off the team. DON
Pateryn got 2 year extension deal, sweet! Now just want to hear Thrower is signed. If Vail is signed also good, if not oh well.. that is just the way the sh*twinds blow.
DON
Gregoire 3rd star with 2g (8) and 1a Hudon assisted on Gregoire's 1st and had 1 other assist. Hudon 21pts/Gregoire 20pts in 20 games. BC win 6-5 and now up in finals 3-2, play game #6 tomorrow afternoon.
DON
Hudon-Gregoire off to game 7 in Q finals, Gregoire with 1a. So 21points in 21 games for both Hudon & Gregoire, who is doing well again, had 16points in 18 games last year playoffs and still youngster who dosent turn 19 till September. dlbalr
Both of them had a rough day +/- wise, -3 and -2 respectively. I wanted Baie-Comeau to end it today.
dlbalr
So Windsor has been informed that De la Rose will not be in Windsor next year. What's interesting is that their GM is saying it's Montreal or Hamilton which contradicts the Montreal or Sweden reports we've seen. Rychel said the club will jump back into the European Import Draft in July to add a player with Swedish centre Jacob de la Rose, who has signed with the Montreal Canadiens, not expected to report to Windsor next season. “No, (Montreal general manager) Marc Bergevin said he’ll either be in Montreal or (with the AHL) Hamilton Bulldogs,” Rychel said. “He’s a big kid, he’s played with men and he’s ready. There’s nothing for him to prove in junior hockey.” Windsor's GM also noted that one of the reasons that they didn't deal Vail at the OHL trade deadline is because they knew there was a chance he'd be back next season. That lends a bit of credence to the rumblings that the Habs aren't all that interested in signing him. Centre Brady Vail, who was a fourth-round pick by the Canadiens in 2012, has less than a month to sign. Forward Ben Johnson, who was drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the third round of the 2012 NHL Draft, also has not signed. “There’s a chance Johnson and Vail are back,” Boughner said. “It’s one of the reasons, at the trade deadline, that we were careful not to trade them.” http://blogs.windsorstar.com/2014/05/12/spits-roster-remains-a-work-in-progress/

Would of really liked to see Gregoire play couple games, I assume Hudon will likely see some Habs pre-season action and then Hamilton in the fall. DON
You said Hudon would do well in playoffs and he did. But, I must say I have be a fond of Gregoire since he was picked and with 1 assist with under 4 minutes left and GTG with under 2 minutes left, before that darn Mantha scored with under 1 minute left and just another 2nd star for Gregoire, am hoping is another 'Gallagher-like' find for Timmins, al be it a longer development period is likely than what the lil fellow followed. Maybe Gregoire can have a good off-season and somehow sneak into a world junior invite (very long shot, but who knows)?
