dlbalr
Definitely good news. Watch for someone to go on waivers today (or tomorrow with a non-roster designation) unless whatever caused Evans to miss practice today winds up being enough to move him to IR. GHT120
Bergevin had a press conference earlier today ... Weber hasn't had any surgeries since the season ended ... that the specialist who previously operated on Weber's ankle feels that further surgery would not improve anything ... and that he felt it is a long-shot that Weber plays again ... starts at 17:10. Commandant
Edmundson will not make the trip out west but will practice and is expected to be ready when the Habs return from the trip
GHT120
There seems to be no news of how much longer he will be out.

Commandant
I hope he's not suffering concussion symptoms. That's my fear given his history.

GHT120
Some details on Perreault's eye problems ... detached retina ... not necessarily an on-ice injury ... had laser surgery ... will be re-examined in a couple of weeks

With Edmundson close to returning, I wondered if they might carry 8 D for a bit but with this plus Gallagher being banged up, that shouldn't be the case now. Does he have 3C potential? He's already 25 so there are not many recent scouting reports on him. So, I'm asking our resident expert instead. Style wise, he's a better 3C than a 4C (not an energy player, doesn't kill a lot of penalties, but good offensive instincts). The likeliest scenario is that he's someone that's too good for the minors offensively but not quite good enough for full-time NHL duty. But, find him the right wingers and give him an extended look and he might be able to provide a passable level of play for a bit and they'd happily take that at the moment.

DON
What is the matter with Petry? As soon as Norlinder is deemed healthy, he will return to Sweden to play? Is that correct?

hockeyrealist
Drouin out again tonight. They say it isn’t a concussion but what other possibility is there? Hit in the head, immediately leaves ice, does not return that game and now a week or so later is stil out? There was no major facial damage, no blood, and was not really a hard shot. Obviously it would still hurt, but big difference b/w hurt and being injured and unable to play for multiple games. Seems to me the team is either lying to the media or he’s sitting out for an unrelated matter but either way at this point it is ridiculous to miss this much time without any info. More lack of transparency from this organization is what aggravates me at this point, why no info coming out? Game after game missed by a key player with a past checkered with injuries/missed time is pretty crucial storyline I’d think.
alfredoh2009
Like, Drouin at centre would make all the difference in the world 🙄
dlbalr
If I had to guess, I'd go with vision as the issue. Just because there wasn't any blood doesn't mean it didn't do any damage and if there's swelling in the area (which there probably is), it could be a matter of waiting for it to come down to pass baseline vision tests before being cleared to play. At that point, it's day to day until the swelling comes down to a point where he'd be cleared.
tomh009
And NHL teams release almost no information about player injuries, as a rule, so this is not unusual.

hockeyrealist
Yeah, I get the vision thing. But why the secrecy then? simple statement, swollen eye would provide adequate info and not present it as some major/ongoing concern that would cause a stir or provide edge to opponents. The fact that this is all a guess is exactly the problem I am referring to. Swelling around an eye, even affecting vision doesn’t last that long. If it had been that sever of impact he would not have stayed on feet and gotten off the ice under his own steam, he’d have been knocked the f out. Wish him the best, just think lack of info is odd, causes more concern than anything.
dlbalr
If they wanted to add a zero to that timeline for Paquette, I think most wouldn't mind. It'll be interesting to see if a forward joins Norlinder among those being recalled after tonight's Laval game as Perreault and Byron aren't ready to return and Brooks seems to be viewed as unplayable by the coaching staff for some reason.
