Sit out with a lower body injury for the rest of the season (I think it was him) Wideman was legitimately injured with a career ending injury. His body is beat up. The suggestion that he just sat out is kinda gross. The suggestion that Pezzetta would do this too is also kinda gross. Accusations that people are sitting out when they could play, with no evidence to same (and the evidence we have on Wideman is the opposite of that) is really shitty.

Oh, I did not mean that Pezzetta was protesting in a "sit out", I meant that he may sit out like Wideman with an injury unlike some players that play through injuries. Perhaps as a marginal NHLer to begin with he wants to be able to play at 100% before he returns as even at that he may play his way off the roster. I wouldn't mind swapping Newhook and Slafkovsky for a few games ... Newhook had some success last season with the "big" boys, and I wonder if his pace works better with them than Dach and Laine ... similarly, might Laine and Dach benefit from Slaf's particular talents. I don't mind going back to the lines that gave us the win streak, after they separated them earlier. Last year, Caufield and Suzuki stopped scoring, they got separated a few weeks, then got put back together and it worked again. Sometimes time apart helps. I’m definitely surprised Laine hasn’t got a shot on the top line.

Commandant
I don't see why you'd break up Suzuki - Caufield right now. If they start struggling, maybe, but why when they are both having strong seasons, and I don't see Laine as the solution to be the third guy to play with them. The Chicoutimi Cucumber
Kirby Dach underwent successful knee surgery | Montréal Canadiens OK. I think we can officially declare the "Kirby Dach as top-6 C" experiment over. He is too fragile, his knee may be damaged goods, and it's not clear that he is good enough as a player, to play that kind of core role. Hugo need to give serious thought to the #2C position as a structural hole in the rebuild. And they cannot do like MB did with the #1C position, i.e., wait a decade. Maybe they think Beck can be that. If not, they should be proactive about finding one within the next few months.
