Savard is little more than a shot blocker now. He simply can’t keep up anymore. 
 

I am open to a Guhle, Xhekaj pairing because Struble, Hutson working so well together

The only reason i say savard might play and xhekaj sit is the RH/LH issue.

I think this will be the main reason Savard will stay in the lineup to be honest.

He really has one summer to prepare for a really big season. His final contract year and if he performs similarly then he might be looking at a big pay cut

I am not a big JiC fan, but at 2:10-ish JiC asked about the Wilson hit and Alex says his head was fine (maybe 'out-of-it" for a second) and if there had been O/T he would have been back out ... 3:19-ish JiC asks about the Ovie hit and Alex confirms it was his ankle that was hurt.

 Well.  As a third pair there’s more ti it than 5 on 5.  Savard was critical on the PK.  I’m curious who can step up and be that next year.  And X was there to police.  Which happened.  So it’s not just about 5 on 5 when you are playing ten minutes.

He’ll be getting a pay cut for sure.  He’s an obvious role player not worthy of top money.  I think the whole league recognizes that.

And xhekaj was directly responsible for goals against and took bad penalties and the series was lost, and his "policing" didn't stop Wilson throwing big hits that directly influenced the series.  I still would have played struble.

That seems the likely outcome for Dach but there is that little spark of hope in my heart that Dach turns into a proper 2C level this season

2W probably more likely at this point than 3C. But Poehling’s 30 points is a rather low bar.

Yes.  But you need to get a 2C and that isnt easy.

 

If we dont get a 2C it will be Dach and Newhook in a camp.competitiion for the spot.

The $64,000,000,000,000 Question is … WHEN did Hughes say that?  

The “article” was posted today but makes no reference to when Hughes said that. 
If it was this week, then there is some cause for possible concern ... if i was in the end-of-season presser, then no specific cause for concern.

True.  No GM is doing a mid august press conference unless there is a major trade or contract signing or something to announce.  These guys are at their cottages, or with their families right now.  Any work being done is done remotely.

Of course there is worry, even if he looks 100% right now (which we havent heard he is), he has been injury prone going back to junior, i think his playing style just wont help avoid that.

Also St Louis wouldnt of worded it that way early in summer, would he?
