dlbalr
One line change of sorts from the morning skate. Leblanc is back on the 3rd line RW in place of Nokelainen (they were swapped last game).

Agreed, I'm no fan of Darche, but we're kinda stuck with him. Wonder if we see any other callups from Hamilton. I wouldn't be surprised if Cunneyworth tries Palushaj again, in a bigger role than Martin was ever willing to give him.

I hope the organization feels the best thing for Palushaj is to stop yo-yo'ing him and let him settle in with the Bulldogs for a bit. There really isn't a spot for a bigger role right now beyond the 3rd line RW spot which is currently occupied by Leblanc. If Palushaj takes that spot, Leblanc goes back to being in a useless spot on the 4th. Moen skated today which suggests he may be ready for the Boston game. If that's the case, there's no point in bringing Palushaj or anyone else up.

However I do think one of Leblanc/Palushaj could play the left side. I think its much easier to move as a winger than as a defenceman. TSN was reporting yesterday that there is a setback on Gomez's recovery, so it looks like he is going to be out longer then originally thought. What I'd like to see is the following: MaxPac-DD-Cole Leblanc-Pleks-AK46 Cammy-Eller-Weber Darche-Niko-BLunden Once Moen and Gionta are ready: Maxpac-DD-Cole Cammy-Pleks-Ak46 Gionta-Eller-Moen Weber-Niko-BLunden Once Gomez and White are back: Maxpac-DD-Cole Cammy-Pkeks-Ak46 Gionta-Eller-Gomez Moen-Niko-White
Colin
Is Josh Gorges the unsung hero of this team? He's the first who stood up for Cunnyworth. Gotta love him. http://aconcernedfan.com/?p=
lazy26
It'll be interesting to see if Montreal bucks this season's trend of losing their first game under a new coach. So far, only the Blues have won their first game.

Love his work ethic and his game, I cannot express how disappointed I'd be if they didn't sign him...

hab29RETIRED
Good Post! This is exactly why i was pissed that the Habs didn't sign him long-term last summer. As I said last May, I would have signed him to 6-7 year deal. I'm pretty sure we could have got him for around $3.25M. Same thing with AK46, he should have been locked up for 4 years at around $4M. Gotta love him. http://aconcernedfan.com/?p=73 It's been a while since I've been this pumped waiting for a game. Really curios to see: 1) changes Cunneyworth makes in how he manages his bench 2) how the players respond. I'm surprised. T-Minus 2 hours and 20 minutes. There has to be a line of what he is worth and what is too much.

What is this based on? If you or I on a message board can figure out that these guys get more as UFAs than they do signing long term extensions early, don't you think the players and their agents can figure out the same? We have no idea what they were asking for. Any guesses are baseless speculation and/or wishful thinking. It's been a while since I've been this pumped waiting for a game. I totally agree...BUT I think in Gorges's case he might have taken a discount to get locked up long-term. Not only was his value deflated by his injury, but he's been quite vocal about his love of playing here. Considering how Markov's knee has gone, though, I can certainly understand Gauthier not being in any big hurry to lock up two dodgy knees for a number of years. hab29RETIRED
The point is that the Habs did NOT EVEN TRY to make a long term proposal - that was made clear by Gorges this summer and that he understood the business, but was disapointed. If you don't actually make an offer, it is hard to figure out what the player wants. I also can't see Gorges, coming off MAJOR KNEE SURGERY, turning down a 6-7 year deal in the $3M to $3.5M range. IF the habs do make an offer and he turns it down, at least they have an out and can say they tried, but the player wanted too much money. Instead, neither Gorges nor AK46 were offered long-term deals. What is this based on? If you or I on a message board can figure out that these guys get more as UFAs than they do signing long term extensions early, don't you think the players and their agents can figure out the same?
