Permanent Trade Proposal Thread

You obviously give MB more credit than most on this site and almost EVERY friggin hockey analyst out there.

Marchand is not a declining asset. The deal the idiotic MB would make is Gallagher for Shane Doan - even though Doan's a UFA.

Gallagher for Marchand is more like it.

I know E. Kane isn't a popular type but since we have all this great leadership in the room now... Some1 should be able to keep him in line, no?

Say it costs.... DD and a conditional 6th Pick.

Does any1 take on this Habs team?

If that's all the cost would be, I'd take it, sure. If it doesn't pan out, he's only a 1/3-cost buyout next summer so there isn't a ton of risk. That said, Buffalo would still want to get something resembling decent value to give up on him and Desharnais wouldn't qualify.

But since you mention leadership, Buffalo, and Desharnais in a proposal, would anyone do a Gionta-for-Desharnais swap? :) (Gionta has one year left at $4.25M, Desharnais 1 x $3.5M.)

No. Both are pretty useless. Why take on the additional cap space. Worst comes to worst send DD to the minors.

The more and more I think about it, it makes sense to bury Desharnais in the AHL and give the young players with more size (and cheaper cap hit) his spot. His time with MTL is almost certainly over and there's no sense keeping him on the team to finish out his contract.

Marinaro said multiple sources were saying that Desharnais was the player Bergevin was trying hardest to move at the draft

Trade Proposal :

Colorado sends Landeskog and Barrie

for

Gallagher, Peteryn, and Sherbek?

And go..

We need a LW, deep on the right.

I don't see what's in it for the Avs. They downgrade on defence, they downgrade on offence and their reward for doing so is Scherbak? That doesn't look too good on their end.

(Also, this would put Montreal millions over the cap once you factor in the expected $6+ million contract for Barrie.)

If the Avs are thinking of trading Barrie, then the Habs need to send Emelin the other way. Most likely need to send McCarron too.

Roy thinks Barrie is #5 material pp specialist. aka MA Bergeron style. I'd be focused on Fowler or Shattenkirk, personally. With Lehkonen, Reway Hudon on the verge, I'd be willing to move JDLR at this point. I think Carr made him expendable an expendable asset. Even Scherbak before McCarron, imo, he has to stay. He could be Turner Stevenson but he might be Eric Daze. We have to see lol

I'm not sure how much value someone like de la Rose has after last season. This time last year, he was a first year pro (in North America) that showed to be a successful fourth liner with third line upside. He stagnated if not regressed a bit last season so that potential ceiling may not be viewed as that high anymore. He looks more like a fourth liner who projects to be an above average fourth liner instead of a quality third liner. Guys like that don't carry a whole lot of value in a trade.

Why did they even draft De La Rose in the first place. He had no offensive upside from the get go

He was thought to have a bit offensive upside when he was picked. I'd imagine they viewed him as the big shutdown centre of the future that could score ten goals a year or so as well.

He only just turned 21 and has already played in the NHL. Should we be so quick to dismiss the possibility of offensive improvement. He was and early 2nd rounder.
