Zowpeb
That's why Leaf fans thought Domi and Tucker were stars...and why Habs fans think guys like Moen or Gill are worth big on the trade market. LOL

Dalhabs
I feel the only player that we could trade and get something good for at the deadline except the younger players is Eric Cole. I bet a playoff team would give us their 1st + a decent prospect or two for him. The others... 2nd-3rd rounders at best. Question is do we want to trade Cole or keep him for his play and leadership. Commandant
That makes zero sense. It's the whole pk system. Even Darsche and Pyatt last year had great PK #'s and we know how bad they are. Darche played a total of 40 seconds all of last season on the PK. Not 40 seconds per game.... 40 seconds total PK time for the season. Do you even watch this team, or do you just come on the internet and complain about it? Telling us that Darche had great PK #s last season when he basically spent 0 time on our PK last season and you don't even know this? And on top of that, you cant even spell his name? Meanwhile this season Hal Gill is 2nd in the ENTIRE NHL in PK minutes/game (only Beauchemin ahead of him) and the Habs have the number 1 PK in the league, but he gets no credit because its just the system? It has nothing to do with how good he is as a PKer.

Yes, its true, I have 10 alter egos on this site, plus a giant posse of all my friends who come here and agree with me. Its a giant conspiracy to protect Gauthier, and to attempt to confuse people like you to like him, so that way Geoff Molson will keep him on as GM of the team. I'm sad now, cause you've uncovered our brilliant plot. What do I do now?
bar
What players get in trade doesn't always equate to their talent...there are other factors...like availability. IF there is one good PKer available at the deadline, they will fetch more than if there is 10 available...

IF we get Markov back or a plausible Markov replacement, and IF we don't decimate the team via a fire-sale, I believe this will look like an entirely different club next year. A new coach who actually has the backing of management will work wonders for team 'compete' levels and an effective PP will totally change the complexion of things. If we can move Gomer we will also have a ton of cap space to diddle with. So I'd keep Cole around, not just because he is a standing example to the rest of the team, but because he will be a key piece to what could prove a surprisingly successful team. IF. I dont see a big fire sale coming; but shipping out Moan, Desharnais, Gill, Campoli, Weber, Kostitsyn may clear the way for signing a #1 centre on July 1st possibly, as well as a bunch of picks/prospects? Not a clue how to get rid of Gomez, just the biggest boat anchor in league! Markov "should" be back to play 20 games or so of practice i hope and all will be healed up fine ? Seems many players still havent heard of Yemelin yet and are easily pasted by him; at least he, Gorges, Price and a few others show up to play every night. Only 1 spot out of lottery pick at present. I hadnt thought Habs were bad enough to challange for that, but as lame as they played last night, Grigorenko aint that far off?
Zowpeb
If this team can't dump Gomez through salary I would be eternally grateful to Molson approving his being stashed in the minors and using the cap room elsewhere... I'd deal Cole heartbeat if he could actually net a 1st round pick and more...for the right prospect/pick returns (and a couple of salary dumps) I'd also deal Kosty, Gionta, Kaberle, Campoli, Gomez. Take back a couple of guys who are UFA's at seasons end (this or next) to balance out those parts of any deals...but the focus should be on youth as the primary returns where possible. If necessary, package together picks in the off-season to move up the draft boards the next 2 drafts. To the Moen and Gill fanboy club...sorry but they are NOT worth as much as some of you think. I don't care that they are great PK specialists. Gill is worth more then Moen...but Moen is really not worth more then a mid-late round pick. Seriously, guys like him are all over NHL 4th lines and AHL clubs as depth...I actually like what Moen brings to the game but let's not equate that with his actual market value. Passionate fans are great but let's be rational folks. No contending team is giving up a decent pick or prospect for a guy who will likely be a 4th line player. Jebus save you if you think otherwise. Commandant
Last year Brad Winchester (worse player than moen) traded for a 3rd round pick. Chris Kelly for a 2nd round pick Chris Campoli + 7th for a 2nd + Prospect 2010 Deadline Dominic Moore for a 2nd round pick Steve Staios for a 3rd rounder + a prospect Andrew Alberts for a 3rd rounder clarke macarthur (before his explosion in T.O) for a 3rd and a 4th. Raffi Torres for a 2nd + a prospect Eric Belanger for a 2nd Jeff Halpern for Teddy Purcell + 3rd rounder Andy Sutton for 2nd Denis Grebeshkov for 2nd rounder Hell in 2008 when Gill had no playoff resume to speak of, he was worth a 2nd + a 5th. bbp
Your fave hab is Koivu? Do you know he hasn't been on the team in 3 years now? Koivu was an inspirational person and player. Bashing someone for having Koivu as their favorite hab is ridiculous. I also didn't know that someone who has been on the site a month was so familiar with the rules and regulations regarding if a fav player must or must not be playing on the team presently. Also, Commandant is destroying you when it comes to facts... you really should just stop trying to match up against him and get the picture
Machine of Loving Grace
People tend to forget that trade deadline predictions are not about the players worth but the players inflated worth through desperation and bidding. The trade deadline is starting to simmer down compared to earlier years but you'll always see moves for complimentary players for prices much, much more expensive that they'd have been three months earlier. Machine of Loving Grace
I wonder what we could get for Cammy... oh right, PG didn't shop him or wait for the bidding. He really should have waited when it came to Cammalleri. I know the impression was to get rid of the people not listening to the coach and that, "we can't let his value drop any further" but the trade deadline is when you pick up players to get ready for the post-season and Cammalleri is one of the best post-season scorers of the last two years. That's when you move a guy like Cammalleri. I got little to no confidence in Gauthier or the coaching staff but that doesn't mean I hate every move they've made. Commandant
Thing to remember when dealing with Vancouver, very good chance they make at least the final four and the pick is 26-30th in the round. If they are only offering a third rounder.... I'd rather look for a team lower down the standings to trade him to for that type of a pick.... for Vancouver I'd really demand the 2nd rounder. Blonde Demon
Almost 22 years old still not in NHL I do not know much about him care to elaborate? Had some offensive upside during his years in the Q, but his offense never really matured when he progressed to the pro level (AHL)...He now is a defensive style d-man that has good size (6'2" 215lbs. or so) that has a mean streak and is tough to play against...Think a French Komi, but more offensive potential..More of a project type of prospect that could pan out to be a Josh Gorges in the future..Home town boy.. Commandant
From Wikipedia.... Best Penalty Kill Percentage in a season: 89.25%, by 1999-00 Dallas Stars Habs Current Penalty Kill Percentage: 89.6%. Hal Gill and Travis Moen are #1 and #4 in ice time for this PK. Still think record setting efficiency has limited value? Now, I don't think we'll break the record, because our PK is bound to suffer when those two are traded, but its something that should be kept in mind for trade value, especially if we can package the two of them together.
