Trizzak
Any interest in Steckel as a 4th line centreman? He'd be good for the PK, can hit a bit, and is fantastic on the draw.
HabsTrick450
Any interest in Steckel as a 4th line centreman? He'd be good for the PK, can hit a bit, and is fantastic on the draw. His size and weight are definite winners!

He's exactly the type of player the bottom 6 needs. I'd be way more comfortable with White on the wing. That being said.. Moen is currently obsolete on this roster. Adding a Steckel type player would seal his fate.
Machine of Loving Grace
Patrick Caisse @PatrickCaisse Brenden Morrow's agent told me that he had "a good discussion" with Marc Bergevin and that he's sure he will have another one. #Habs
dlbalr
He's another slower player but I could see there being a fit. He's widely regarded as a good player in the room while his physical play would help as well. He's not a top six guy now but with the roster as it currently stands, he wouldn't need to be. Another report on Morrow from Mario Langlois (98.5 Sports): B. Morrow ouvert à l'idée de jouer à Montréal selon Carbo @985Sports live.Le Canadien s'est dit surpris ! L'agent et CH se parlent. I've always liked Steckel. Replacing him for Armstrong could get the PK rolling again. He's another slower player but I could see there being a fit. He's widely regarded as a good player in the room while his physical play would help as well. He's not a top six guy now but with the roster as it currently stands, he wouldn't need to be. I like Morrow more than Jagr, that's for sure. Jagr would be great to keep Plekanec's spirits up, but at this stage he's too slow. Unfortunately he seems to be on the same "retirement tour" as Doug Gilmore, he should really hang them up.
The Chicoutimi Cucumber
Morrow seems like he'd be a good fit in terms of his attributes - except he's listed as a LW. I believe he plays RW too, but if he's mainly on the left side, then that's a bit odd given how stacked we are at LW. Meanwhile, is Bergevin seriously considering going into the season with our current D-corps? Every rumour seems to centre on a forward. Machine of Loving Grace
Yes he is. He's relying on the rookies to be ready. You are now free to bring this up in every post. Or rather, just continue bringing it up in every post

I guess we're all banking on a major turnaround by Price (we would be anyways, but it would be nice to have some defensive reinforcement to make it more likely). Morrow would be interesting, but he looked pretty useless in his stint with the Pens. If he can skate he would bring positive qualities to our fourth line. It doesn't speak very much to the team's interest in him, however, that his camp initiated contact.
C-Love
I can't understand why noone is mentioning Douglas Murray. This guy would be unreal in a Habs uniform, and exactly the kind of defenceman we need. He's huge, hits, and is sound defensively.
Neech
Same reason why Morrow hasn't been signed yet: not a good skater and looked over the hill on a cup-contender. Though I admit I'd be happy to see him on our team next year, we need physicality on D pretty badly.

jcc10
just depends on the money and yrs. One yr is great no way do we give him more then that At 42 he ran out of gas in a shortened season. I'd rather give Leblanc and others a shot at that position. Plus we need goal scorers not playmakers

Machine of Loving Grace
Douglass Murray hasn't signed anywhere because he's overrated by people who don't watch his games on his defensive ability. Penguins fans were dancing when they got him near the deadline. They don't really care much about keeping him now. Another example of the size lovers ignoring skill. I posted it a couple months back about Murray. He's too slow was the common census. That was my reasoning for saying it has been posted before. I was happy with the signing of Boullion, he did exactly what he was brought in to do. Mix it up in the corners and lay the body once and a while. Which is the reason he's back this year. As for Drewiske; he brings some size and added depth to the back end with decent defensive capabilities. Drewiske also came with a very small price tag. We don't have a dman that can clear the crease or win a puck battle. And then you have Diaz that will give the puck up to avoid contact. murray isn't great, but is desperately needed for this pathetically soft defence. Every year we've bowed out of the playoffs is because we couldn't handle the front of the net.Boston twice,Philly twice and Ottawa.

Drewiske is the softest and most useless big bodied Hab D-man since Patrick Traveres. And watching Boullion, who is all heart, bounce of large forwards is embarrassing. PK,Emelin,Tinordi,Beauleau,is a great top 4 for the future. With 2 of Dietz,Thrower Pateryn or Ellis in the wings Markov is still a question mark as the 2nd year off his injuries will show if he's just a pp specialist with offensive skills.I would love to see Gorges and his ridiculous contract and Diaz moved replaced short term by Murray and/or Fistric

Totally agree about the D, but we should try to avoid problematic, one-dimensional players if we can. I'm assuming that MB is shooting for a genuine fix, not some player that is going to create new sets of problems. Either that, or he is crossing his fingers that Tinordi can fill the hole - a high-risk, high-reward strategy that I don't like.
