brobin Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 5-3. Need this one as I don't trust them with a two goal lead. Quote
brobin Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Gionta has not been good, but unlike DD, he can still crash the net and score. Quote
Colin Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Regarding Markov: slow start to the season but he's - dare I say it - our most important defender right now. Subban is flashier by far, but Markie is more reliable throughout his game. At this particular stage of the season, I'd hazard to say we're playing with two #1 D's. (And yet somehow they're still not playing 30 minutes!) Quote
habscout Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Regarding the kids: while it might seem they've "cooled" the reality is that they're playing against better opposition now (since they're ostensibly Montreal's best line) and they're still creating something almost every shift. Now they have to take that next step as a group and begin producing against the NHL's best. Once they do that, sky's the limit. Colin I agree. The best way to protect against that is to get more offence from the other lines so the opponents can't focus on just the EGG line. Plekanec/Bournival have stepped it up the past 3-4 games to help. If only DD could get it going. Nice to see Gionta get a PP goal! Quote
RobRock Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Gallagher and Eller miss on wide open nets Quote
Colin Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 And the kids do everything except score. I like Bourque's game these days, but that kind of offside borders on he unforgivable. He had a country mile in which to work. Quote

I think that he's allowing Subban to be the offense on that pairing, whether that coming from the coaching staff or that's just the way they've played when paired together Quote
Guest Stogey24 Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 That's not considered a head shot? Quote
brobin Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Soon some soft calls against the habs will be made. Chris Lee specialty. Book it. Quote
Colin Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Habs work ethic has dropped slightly. If they don't pick it up now, I predict the cliff and the choke. Quote
dlbalr Posted October 25, 2013 Author Posted October 25, 2013 They let up near the end but it's nice to see the second end with the Habs in a better situation than they were going into the frame. Quote
JGC21 Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Koivu is a great player but was a mediocre captain. Just curious, why would you say this? Do you think Gionta is a better captain? Quote
dlbalr Posted October 25, 2013 Author Posted October 25, 2013 Quirky stat of the period: The Hab with the lowest TOI - Blunden (3:11) - has a game high in hits with 4. That's making good use of limited time. 1 Quote
Colin Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Moen at half speed that shift caused a couple of issues. Not good enough. Quote
RobRock Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 I am not liking the way this period is going. Too much play in one end. Quote
Colin Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Have we ever had that many breakaway passes in a season let alone a handful of games? Markov is tossing darts to Bourque these days. Weak sauce call. Quote
Colin Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Gorges with a dough-head play. Quick poll of the moment: Stéphane Waite, best acquisition by MB? 1 Quote
habscout Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Just curious, why would you say this? Do you think Gionta is a better captain? Yeah I totally disagree. He was a good captain on some mediocre teams. Quote
Trizzak Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Gorges was bad, but I'm not sure diving off the ice at the puck is the best way Diaz could have played that 2 on 1... Quote
