Machine of Loving Grace
Two seasons ago, the Montreal Canadiens were eliminated by the Ottawa Senators. The team fell into the trap of playing physical instead of focusing on their speed and Carey Price went down to injury. French Canadian small fry Pageau scored a lot of goals like he seems to always do against the Habs and Lars Eller went down in injury. Following the playoffs, advanced statistics researchers looked at the Senators puck possession and shooting and said they were a better team than anyone thought originally and should be a contender for years to come. Instead, the Ottawa Senators are hot garbage, firing their coach and seeing their starter Anderson hurt again. In net tonight will be Andrew Hammond, who looked like hot garbage replacing Lehner in a loss to the Hurricanes. The Senators still carry the puck fine and shoot a lot but the problem, of course, with advanced statistics is that they are not so much a predictor of success but a mark of good habits. The Sens show good habits with the puck. That doesn't mean good habits immediately translate into wins. The Sens celebrated keeping Mark Methot, who has the difficult job of making Erik Karlsson not look like hot garbage in his own zone. Imagine if the Markov-Komisarek pairing was Markov being a terrible D man and Komisarek having to pick up for his slack when Markov wasn't scoring. That's the top line in Ottawa. For Montreal we get the long awaited return of Jiri "cakeS" Sekac as we comes into the lineup and Malhotra takes a well needed rest. Greg Pateryn also enters the Habs lineup to replace Mike Weaver. Will be interesting to see what the oldest defensive prospect does in this game against less a rival and more a constant irritant. Tokarski gives Price a much needed rest. Hopefully he allows less than three goals. 2013 Stanley Cup playoffs this ain't. Puck drops at 7PM EST on Sportsnet and RDS. Lines not official (aside from Pateryn saying he believed he was playing with Beaulieu) Montreal Canadiens Max Pacioretty - David Desharnais - Christian Thomas/Dale Weise Alex Galchenyuk - Tomas Plekanec - Brendan Gallagher Brandon Prust - Lars Eller - cakeS Michael Bournival - Jacob De La Soul - Dale Weise/Christian Thomas Andrei Markov - P.K. Habs30/31
Good right up. I will call a spade a spade. In that series the sens beat the hell out of the canadiens in every aspect of the game and eliminated them in five. Ottawa was then dominated by the Pens and finished in five. Price, Gionta, White, Pacs, Eller, Prust, all sustained injuries during the one sided series. Plekanic and DD were invisible. MB signed George Parros soon after. Habs have come along way since that embarrassing series. Sens have not. Tonight, interested to see if Pateryns' game has progressed. Dieing for somebody, anybody to play well enough to take Gilberts job.
xXx..CK..xXx
I honestly hope we light them up. I'm sick of these close games and losses to the weaker Ontario teams! 6-2 please (alright 4-3 will make me happy too)

Habsfan
Go boys! Beat up on the hens tonight! Let's not even give them a chance to be competitive in this game! Kill'em All!!!!
Machine of Loving Grace
Ottawa Turbo Grafx 16? The Videogame? Context: When the Ottawa Senators came out with their sweaters that said SENS on the front everyone joked that they kept mixing it up and thinking it said SNES which was the nickname for the Super Nintendo. It has since become a comical nickname for them. Except the Super Nintendo was awesome so the Ottawa team can't be a SNES. So instead they are the Ottawa Turbo Grafix-16's. Habsfan84
Pretty important game for Tokarski tonight. He has been struggling of late and really has to have a good game. Another few bad outings and Bergevin will be forced into looking to bolster his goalie depth at the deadline in the form of a veteran presence. Excited to see Pateryn in there tonight especially if he is playing with Beaulieu. Quite a young pairing could be exciting but could mean that they wont get the most ice time. Go Habs Go!!!! Habs30/31
The team hasn't played great in front of Toke all year in all fairness No they have not. Also price has become very good back there at handling the puck, steering rebounds to the corners, covering up loose pucks and long stretch passes. Carey does all that plus make game saving stops. When he sits all that is gone. Toker replaces a fraction of that. Habs have 12 points in 11 games Toker played. About 87 point pace.

It's almost like he feel obligated to because Carey is like a 3rd D-man back there

Nobody will fault him for not being Carey.
ICEWATER77
Somebody here had mentioned that, at times, Tokarski looked like a kitten chasing a laser pointer...I thought that was the perfect analogy of his play that night

BCHabnut
I like these tokarski games. Keeps the team honest and forces good habits. I would like to see a few more. I'm disapointed to see pateryn in the lineup. I would like to see weaver play more.

Machine of Loving Grace
This is already way more fun than Detroit. Ottawa's goalie is super lucky and Tokarski looks lost. Firewagon hockey in 2015!
Guest Stogey24
Who's the first place team here? I'm sorry, I know everyone loves Gallgher, but he does nothing unless he's in front of the net

dlbalr
That was not a good first period for the Habs. Ottawa is way more energized and are playing like they want to dominate while the Habs have yet to match that intensity level. It'll be interesting to see how they manage Beaulieu and Pateryn's minutes from here on out. They can't be careful with both of them.
