He pulled a Patrick Roy in winning a cup as a rookie, and has posted phenomal numbers consistently throughout his entire careerI agree that Matt Murray has posted great numbers over his 12 game career.Best goalie since Price is a stretch. Wasn't that Holtby or was that only for a year as well? Alright, you said one of the best, but in my opinion the sample size is too small. Goalies that hover around the upper echelon in my mind include Price, Quick, Luongo, Lundqvist, Rinne, maybe Schneider, Holtby, Rask even less of a maybe Bishop, Varlamov etc. There are definitely more that I would take over Murray but all I said was that I think Murray is an average NHL starter. If I can name 10 goalies I'd rather have than the recent cup champion goalie, I'd have to consider him average. Personally l had the Penguins winning the East prior to the season and it wasn't because of Matt Murray. You obviously seem to know a little more about his past than me though, but all that matters to me are his NHL numbers. Young/rookie goalies are too inconsistent and I didn't think Murray had to be that outstanding; he doesn't win a cup on another team. Price could win a cup with any team. Completely agree, but I've thought it a possibility all along that the Habs would try to sign two 'mid-range' guys rather than one big one. If all we come away with is Brouwer, well, we'd be a better team - and he brings that Cup experience that I raised concerns about on another thread. I'm operating on the assumption that there is a second acquisition to come, it's just that it will come via trade instead of free agency. I feel the same, but at that price we definitely improve the top 6 without handcuffing ourselves too much. I want us to get Okposo so bad though... That's the only Hab-related vote that I've seen thus far. But the bigger news today was that Las Vegas is now officially a go and will begin playing in 2017-18. No doubt the thing will sell out in the first few seasons as casinos buy up season's tickets with the idea of providing them as a bonus benefit to high rollers - but that raises the question of whether the ticket-holders will actually bother coming to games. And as many observers have noted, Vegas has a highly transient population that may not be well-suited to developing the kind of fan loyalty that franchises typically need. It simply placates the current fans, many of which refuse to pay for tickets.
