No surprise here:

They will call him back up on monday night

They are just saving his days cause once he hits 30 days in the NHL he has to go on waivers again.

They have done this with him every time they have more than 1 day between games.

His next game is his 10th game, so he'd need waivers regardless.

It also.saves cap room.  Not sure what the plan is there.

I'm hoping the plan is that they'll call someone else up to take that spot instead.  Hudon on the fourth line is a waste of time and they can easily afford to try someone else in that role.

I agree.

I want to see what Vejdemo can do.

Barber and Belzille (when healthy) and Evans are other options.

Barber has played well this year but I suspect is unlikely to be a longer-term NHL player (he played for Hershey for four years, with only three games for the Caps).

Evans has been hot recently and might have NHL potential.

Laval has signed a pair of forwards to PTO deals with their injury and recall situation - centre James Phelan and winger Ralph Cuddemi.  Phelan played 45 games with Texas last season and hasn't been all that productive in the ECHL this year.  Cuddemi has been a good scorer in the ECHL the last four seasons but hasn't had a sniff of AHL action yet.

  • 3 weeks later...

Laval blew a 3-0 third period lead this afternoon but were able to win in the shootout.  Kinkaid picked up the win.

Michael McNiven was recalled to Laval today, likely due to Winnipeg managing to get Eric Comrie through to the minors (sending one of their goalies to ECHL Jacksonville to make McNiven the third option there).

Is this to make room for Scandella? Or is someone returning from IR?

Neither. Laval plays tomorrow so he might as well play for them, and if he's needed to play on Saturday for Montreal due to an injury then he'll only play 4 minutes anyway.

Not a lot of upside as he was a bottom-six guy with Hershey for a long time but if nothing else, he's a better option than most of the fourth liners from last game.  He counts as a veteran player but with Weise up and Varone hurt still, they have openings to work with.

Charles Hudon will represent the Laval Rocket at the AHL All Star Game.

Laval has been depleted as well with all the call ups and players injured as well

Will Peca's last game as a Hab be the one where he scored on his own net?

I'll predict no on that one.  If (when) they do sell a few players, he'll likely be brought up at some point over the final couple of months to play a few games.  Maybe near the end when the injury list grows really quickly.

Weise was sent back to Laval after last night's game.   It'll be interesting to see if he actually winds up playing next week (they're already up against the veteran rule) or if this was just done to extend his waiver exemption a little longer.

Could also be that with 9 days off, they figure one or more of Byron/Drouin/Gallagher is back after the break.
