Don’t worry at this rate we will be squarely in last place long before then

BS and bit of "sky is falling" rambling, not gonna catch Sens who have 11 more losses already.

Habs and Jets are pretty even it seems and Sen-Canucks-Flames are all lesser teams to date, even with 2-4-4 record recently; which i doubt the next ten will be as bad.

(4 games vs Canucks next couple weeks also..TT is licking his chops!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

It was a joke 😜

I still think we will challenge for the cup. We need a centre to step up big and Price to get good again.

That is doable

TT? Thomas Tatar or Trevor Timmins? Or something else?

Yes i knew it was a snide or cynical comment and watching them stay perfect 0-6 on OT i feel some of what "you are putting down", but as easy can go 6-3-1 and right the ship, so still have hope they will do 'fine' (make playoffs).

Habs are 4th in the North Division, three points ahead of Calgary with a game in hand ant three behind Edmonton with two games in hand.

More importantly, they seem to have stabilized the team 5on5 (across the league):

* 2nd on Save % (Jennings trophy ?)

* 2nd on possession (Crosi % and Fenwick %)

* 10th (top 1/3) in Scoring Chances % , and 2nd in High Danger Scoring Chances %)

* Unfortunately they are 20th in High Danger Scoring Chances Converted % , which is what happened in February.

They aren’t winning the Jennings. The Jennings, like the regular win-lose is not determined solely in 5 on 5 play. We are in the bottom third  in the league in GAA.

It is not as bad as you said, even with the putrid February the team had, the Habs are 9th best in goals allowed and 11th best in save%

With the improved special units and half the season to go, it is still possible to be considered for the Jennings: the two goalies have the talent to do it, I think the team is trending that way.

The Jennings is awarded for GAA, not GA

@hab29RETIRED , were did you get your GAA statistics? I cannot find them. I calculated them myself and the Habs are in first tenth place.

I would like to confirm if my math is correct

Sorry. You are right we are number 10. I was looking at ESPN. For some reason when you click on their GAA under team stats the sort starts from the highest, I didn’t really look at the teams just that we were in the bottom 10 (which is actually top 10.  In any event I don’t think there is any way we even get into the top 5 - let alone win the Jennings.  Even through the Jennings is awarded to the goalies on the team, it really is a team award (NYI GM have got good goaltending and defense, but no way do they have the best goalie, or dmen in the league. They do however play a great defensively as a team.  I don’t think our goaltending, defense, or PK is good enough to be much higher than we are. I’d say our goaltending has the potential to be above average, the defense is below average, and the special teams horrible.

Thanks for checking!

I made the bold prediction before the beginning of the season that Price and Allen would win the Jennings.... I am biased about that :)

Habs trending towards a place in the playoffs. The loses in OT really hurt their place in the standings; but with the recent string of wins, there is hope that they will do well in the post-season

Not that much, really. They have won one of 10 OT/SO games; if they were a reasonable .500 in OT/SO, it would be an extra four points. Still in fourth place, but tied with the Oilers on points.

The OT losses are now water under the bridge, as are some other bad nights. Time to keep moving forward, second place is well within reach if the boys can keep up the recent pace. First place? Let's get to second and then look at the next step.

Oilers average (scoring) is also affected by their last three games where the leafs pretty much shutdown Draisaitl and MacDavid.

33+ games into the season, the Oilers are averaging 3.30 goals/game. The Habs? 3.27. Not bad for a team that has no superstars and relies on scoring by committee.

So we’re playing the Flames 5 times here shortly. I’m thinking (hoping) we will win 3 out of 5 and put the flames to rest for good! A bit nervous about all this, they have played us strong and well so far thus season.

2 out of 5 buries them.
