I wasn't ... since leaving Montreal four full seasons ago, he has spent a season or less at each stop ... although he did a return visit to Arizona ... in that time he has scored 38 goals (half in the year after being traded to Arizona) in 225 games ... he is a skilled hybrid of the Scarecrow and the Tin Man (for anyone wondering ... no brain, no heart). I know he hasn't done well but they're down a couple of players right now and, at least on paper, he should have made that team. It makes me wonder if something happened behind the scenes as NHL players on PTO deals rarely get cut that quickly.

I could see a team cutting bait quickly if they give him a PTO and then see the rumours substantiated. I have zero time for Chucky, who had the hockey sense of a jock strap and is just another disappointing former prospect in my book, but I sure hope there are no substance issues or anything like that. Just looking at his career, he had 5 years of decent top-6 production and then fell off a cliff at age 25. That's kind of odd in itself. I would say that he had a 30 goal season, and four seasons of decent 2nd line, very good 3rd line, production ... But otherwise COMPLETELY agree. DON
Just FYI, These stats pretty meaningless stuff, but 1a 2shots, 19:09 2minutes on PP, 1-8 13% on faceoffs; for former 'prospective' hab last night. Shane Wright continues to look more and more comfortable. He notched his first preseason point with the helper on Kartye's goal and contributed in all three zones. The 2022 draftee was strong on the puck, generated quality scoring chances, and was noticeable for his back check as much as his offensive drive. It's all in the details and Wright is showing his attention to so many. https://www.nhl.com/kraken/news/final-buzzer-kraken-come-back-beat-canucks-in-preseason-game/c-335926994
The Chicoutimi Cucumber
Early buzz around Wright here on the west coast is quite positive. A couple of preseason games matter hardly at all, but the word is he’s done good things and looks like he belongs. Commentators who had doubts about his ceiling, continue to have doubts about his ceiling - unsurprisingly.
tomh009
The fact that he looks like he belongs in the NHL should not really be a positive surprise for a top-five pick, especially as he really was never considered a high-risk pick. In comparison, players like Mesar and Beck already looking like they belong are much bigger positives.

The Chicoutimi Cucumber
“Looking great” is a relative concept for Claude Julien 😉 He is up there with Bruce Boudreau and Jacques Martin in the Ugliest Coach competition. (And there’s a LOT of competition in that category; for some reason, NHL coaches are a disproportionately homely breed of human male). That said, I never had anything against the guy and I’m glad he’s in a good place.
