CBC has been highlighting an interesting stat this series.  I think as of that OT, they slipped into second all time in not trailing in games, standing at over 430 minutes since they last trailed in the playoffs.

Yep, they just got by Boston (436:48) for second with the current mark being at 437:53.  488:38 is the record set by the Habs back in 1960.

We came, we saw, we conquered. Half way home. Bring it!!!

Jets Wheeler said it best.

"They're playing at a really high level right now," Wheeler said. "You just have to give them all the credit. With the goaltending they have, any breakdowns, he's putting out those fires."

Go Habs Go!

The drive is alive!!!

I want to say the real test is next round, but I’m not sure it is.  Montreal shut down a dominant offense in the first round.  They shut down a good offense in the second round.  Actually in these past 7 games, they made good teams look not so good.  I’ve been saying the Jets haven’t been playing well this series, but I’ve been overlooking the Habs just not giving them anything easy, like they did to the Leafs in round 1.

I don’t want to jump the gun and over praise this team, but they look solid.  The only thing I would really like to see changed a little is a 3rd pair on defense eat a little more minutes safely, but Chicago won a cup riding their top-4 so this is possible.

There are always at least one or two teams with a desperate need ... idiot GM to owner: "I know it seems like a lot, and that he is a sieve in our own end, but with him on the point we will finally have a real powerplay ... and our "system" can protect him defensively" ... just hope the Habs aren't one of them ... Habs don't need to spend on the 20/21 John Druce Award candidate

I saw the exact same movie in 1993: the Habs would go into series against highly-touted teams, then dismantle them, and the subsequent analysis would be “gee, I guess those teams weren’t all that great after all.” 🙄 I think it is pretty clear that this team is playing suffocating, hard-hitting, smothering, grinding defence - giving the opposition nothing - and that it has also figured out how to combine that with an effective transition (which was the missing piece for the first four games against Toronto). Affix that to Grade-A Price, and nobody should be taking these Habs lightly.

Of course, that doesn’t mean the Habs should be favourites to win against either Colorado or Las Vegas. They shouldn’t; Colorado has dominant offensive talent, and Vegas is a team built a lot like the Habs, but with a stronger playoff pedigree. The mistake isn’t in seeing the Habs as underdogs, it’s in seeing them as bubble team that has somehow lucked out with crap opponents. Yes, they were a bubble team in the regular season - but they are a team built for the playoffs. That’s the key.

Colorado and Vegas were both slightly more portent than TO this past season (and in these playoffs), with more balanced scoring ... and ... they have two of the three 20/21 Vezina nominees Fleury and Grubauer who, unlike Jack Campbell, are not playoff rookies ... definitely the real test ...

Don't think that saying Vegas/Colorado would be a bigger challenge than TO or Winnipeg is denigrating the latter, or the Habs accomplishment ... it is just a realistic analysis ... both potential semi-final opponents have been better (pts/%) than TO/Winnipeg the last two seasons (and in the finals would be similarly two other teams similarly better than the Habs have faced thus far) ... the potential semis opponents have two of the three Vezina nominees and the Finals may have the third ... which IS NOT to say they would be better than Price, but they would be expected to be more challenging than were Campbell (playoff rookie) and Hellebuyck (this season) ...... all of that, again, IS NOT to say the Habs could not beat them, just recognizing the challenge.

I would point out that Hellebuyck is no slouch and definitely better than Campbell, yet the Habs still did better vs him.  That could easily be chalked up to Toronto had the better defense. Goaltending wise I would much rather face Grubauer than Fleury in the playoffs.  At the same time, Habs have Price, and he got in Winnipeg’s head early and never got out.

And with the significant injuries to key players , juveniles first skates in front of a pro crowd and our senior citizen line of playoff specialists.... backed by an impermeable wall in the goal...... we always had a lot more team then it appeared... and it just showed up!!!! The Ghosts of course....

Awesome series for franchise & Habsfans.

Did it seem like Habs got every good break they could get...even Evan's injury knocked our Shefiele and let Lehkonen shine a bit, with no let down.

I thought Leafs would smoke the Habs and Jets would win in 6...so i have officially given up on any wildass guesses. I am now being told by Canucks & Leafs fans that Habs run is over and will be different story with quick exit vs american team.

I assume Habs will be big underdog and that is fine by me.

Monday eh, hope Petry is back and can handle/shoot puck fine.

Series could start on Saturday if Colorado/Vegas goes 6 games instead of 7.

I know the Habs played awfully well but I don't know what happened to Winnipeg between game 4 of the Edmonton series and game 1 of the Montreal series. They looked so good against Edmonton and Edmonton didn't play bad. Mike Smith was also excellent in goal for Edmonton.

I think part of it might be styles. Against Edmonton you can prepare by having a plan when Mcdavid and Draisaitl are on the ice whereas Montreal presents a different challenge playing more of a grind it out game with 4 pretty good lines.

Analytically they didnt look that good.  Edmonton was the better team in all 4 games.  Hellbuyck was better than Mike Smith.  When they faced the Habs, they couldnt get by with just goaltending cause the Habs goalie is just as good.

Winnipegs D is weak and it was exposed now.

What is this "TSN" you speak of? 🤣 🤣 🤣

Do you think there is any chance Montreal travels early to Denver/Vegas or a more nearby base like Buffalo to take advantage of the vaccine availability down here and get the team vaxxed up during this break?

100,000 Jet subscribers vs 5 million leaf ones.

Aren't the vaccines readily available in Quebec now?

What they should do, if doing the vaccination, is to do it now so that any side effects will be gone by the time of Game 1.

Last I checked, Canada was still under 8% vaccinated, so it doesn't seem like it is readily available. I'll admit, I haven't heard anything about Quebec specifically, and it is always a bit different from the rest of the country.

But yeah, getting it done now while there are no games to be played is the idea I was going for.
