STANLEY CUP FINAL - Game 4 - Tampa vs Habs - 8pm ET

So, the last game I watched with my Dad, I went home after the second period and they lost. This time I stayed for three periods, but he was ready for bed after regulation (we were already past his regular bed time, he is 87 years old, after all) so I came home for OT and they won. Guess where I'm going on Wednesday and not leaving before the end of regulation?

A random note - I'll be doing a pregame panel appearance on CP24 tonight starting around 8:10 that will run until just before puck drop.  So if you're tired of the talking heads on the CBC panel, you will have an alternative for a few minutes.

So, they have to let you back on before Game 5 since they won. Right?

Now that I've seen the clip, I get it! The new motto of the HW posters!

I’ve been wanting to see Anderson - Suzuki - Caufield for the entire playoffs.  I know why it was Toffoli, I just think Anderson’s speed and tenacity on the forecheck should mesh well with Suzuki and Caufield.  I can easily see that being a good line for years to come providing they find some chemistry.

Not bad chemistry so far.:)

2 wins in Tampa would be a miracle.

That was likely me.  I was even saying that in the regular season.

When Anderson rushes in like that all the other teams players are looking at him, so his linemate should be wide open.  Theres numerous ways that could work too.

Anderson can cut across the ice and do a drop pass.  Or, when Anderson tries to cut around the dman and rush to the net, if the dman is able to prevent him from doing that, he'll pass the puck across the ice.  He's tried that numerous times but there was nobody with him.   Caufield has the best 1 timer so it should be him with Anderson.

Also, when Anderson does those rushes and doesnt score there is usually a rebound but again theres nobody up there with him.   If there was a second chance when Anderson tries that they would have a very high probability of being successful.

I honestly think that might actually be the 1st time that Anderson had somebody up there with him.

I’ve been saying the same thing since game 1.  There was zero chemistry on that 3rd line.  Anderson would drive to the net and he’d always be all alone. No one with him and the play would end with him being in too close and than pushed outside. Taffoli also was not working with Suzuki and Caufield.

It's so incongruous that there are massive gatherings outdoors in Montreal and they can't fill the Bell Center. Such a shame for our players that they haven't played in front of a full crowd in the city's first Cup final in nearly 30 years.  A shame for fans everywhere as well.

They will allow it for game #6.

I haven’t posted since game one since it’s been a rough week for us here.

We lost my father in law yesterday.

He fought a tough 2yr battle against lung cancer.

He was a first generation Greek immigrant who loved sports (and gambling).

Biggest Red Sox fan I ever knew.

The only condition he laid out when I asked for his daughters hand in marriage was that I root for the Sox’s.  Told him that was a small price to pay.

Although he wasn’t a die hard hockey fan, he always supported the bruins. Until his grandson became a die hard Habs fan that is.

We went to several Montreal Boston games over the years and he started to have a soft spot for Montreal, especially since my son loved them so much.

He loved Suzuki from the first day he saw him play.

All day long I’ve been thinking about how the greatest joy he ever had was when the Red Sox’s came back from 0-3 to beat the Yankees in 2004 to crush the bambino curse.

And all I can think of is that he if he was around he would have laid money on Montreal to come back and beat Tampa. He could never turn down a bet like that.

If we manage to come back and win the cup it will be because he had his hand in it.

Consider it his gift for his 8 yr old die hard grandson who’s celebrating his birthday this coming Monday July 12th.

Miss you so much already.

Hope you’re watching with us from above ❤️

Our free will shows we can't be just physical so I'll bet you're right and he joined the Ghosts' chorus. Sure came up big when we sure needed it. God bless you all.

Weber was an inspirational beast last night.

Kulak gets no love but he was so good last night and Romanov looked great too.

Price was dialed in and what a team effort

KK for Staal in game 5 please and we need to get back to high pressure forecheck - that is our game

Keep it going @JoeLassister

Agree 100%, him sitting was fine, but with 1% chance of winning series, play the kid. He is tied 2nd on team with 5g and does have 1 OT winner, is doing better on faceoffs than Staal as well.

Maybe Staal is big cheerleader in room and coachs "like" him more or something?

To be fair, I thought Staal had a good game last night. But I wouldn’t cry if he is pulled in KK’s favour, either.

Kulak, Kulak…he can play for sure. But the coaches have never trusted him. I know that he can tailspin at times, which is why they are always so enthusiastic about benching him; but I do wonder whether they haven’t been unfair to him over the years.

Weber had a monster game. He was refusing to lose. And I can believe the team rallied for the OT PK for his sake.

First 2 games of g to e series, Habs scored 1 goal in each.  Last 2, Habs scored 3 in each.  Last night Price was the Price that brought them to the finals.

Chances are real slim, but there’s signs of life in this team.

Last night makes the searing and undeserved loss in Game Two that much more painful in retrospect. This series could very easily be 2-2.

Thats 1 in the bank.

Go get another in Game 5

Winning in Tampa under those conditions will be quite a feat.

My faint sliver of optimism comes from the Habs’ pattern all playoff of getting stronger as series wear on. But damn, winning there and making a series of it would really be something.

Yes it will be tough to win in Tampa, but they really should have won Game 2 in Tampa so it can be done.

In the (admittedly unlikely) scenario that they manage to win three more games at take the Cup, this would really be a playoff run for the history books.

To build on that, this is already a cup run for this history books.  So far they have put themselves second all time in time leading in the playoffs and set a playoff record for most consecutive penalty kills.

I just want to add, as pointed out, they get stronger as the series goes on so far, they are 6-1 in OT, and went 2-0 vs Toronto when facing elimination.  This has all the indications they do better the higher pressure.
