Go Habs Go!!!

A lot of the ones that were hoping for this to happen back when we had our yearly tail spin must be happy with this news.

But man if Price did play with bad hips and knee and played that well more respect to him.  Also more respect to Weber playing through the pain he did.

I sure hope that tall the  injury talk related to Price and Weber will work out fine for us.  Otherwise,  I might spend some time in jail.

We all saw the incredible performance by both of them and I would love both back to be our playoff specialists.

Im still not sure their ~20 million cap hit is viable considering their regular season performance.

Price can be replaced by a UFA to tandem with Allen. Weber sounds like he is in really rough shape and I doubt he plays again.

I think at the end of the day the Kraken take Danault anyway.

My nightmare scenario is that Bergevin gives up a top pick or prospect so that they don’t take Price.

I agree with you that I believe the Kraken will take Danault.

He has already put his house for sale !!

and he would be an excellent second line center for them, imagine if he has Hyman on his line :o

The possibility exists that the Kraken take Price and then trade him back to us and retain salary.

I imagine the cost would be very high to get this done.

That's not allowed by the expansion draft rules.

No, this is not legal.  They can't trade him to us and retain salary for at least one year.

They can trade him to us, but not with retained salary during the first 12 months.

Yahoo! We're back!!

It was bad timing, inasmuch as I wanted to post a meme of a head exploding after we learned that Price will be exposed. Oh well.

If you're the Kraken, you don't waste a pick on Danault. You wait and sign him as a UFA.

As for Price, either MB has assurances from Francis that they have no interest in #31, or he is rolling the dice. I can certainly see Seattle passing on Price, but I can also see them being attracted by his star power from a marketing POV; and he still has the chops to win big games for your team.

One thing about Bergevin, he has certainly given many of the posters on this site what we said we wanted. Price and Weber, EXPOSED. Danault, left to the open market rather than re-signed to a bloated deal.

Never a dull moment in habsland!!

I think you meant "Never a dull moment in habs world" ;)

Exciting Summer so far for us fans.. Stanley Cup finals, expansion draft, exhibition draft, UFA, trades..

With the Covid related stress and the long playoff run, I am sure Bergevin and his team are in need of a long vacation. That will have to wait!

I see the exposure of Price and Weber among the best moves MB has made.

they are both win-win.

I don’t see kraken taking Weber now. So, either he is healthy at some point and plays again, or he is done. No point in protecting him.

Ditto with Price. If he’s taken by Kraken, we get out of probably 2 to 3 years of that contract that are going to be an anchor. If the Kraken are comfortable with his health issues, they take him and have a new face if the franchise. They can pick up a couple of other good goalies, so even if Price isn’t available to start the year, I think going to the Kraken may do Price good, like it did with Fleury. If he doesn’t get picked up, we still have our goalie tandem in place and hopefully his health issues get resolved. I do see the last 2 or 3 years of his deal will hurt us, the same way that Lundquist’s hurt the Rangers. Remember, the rangers went to the finals in 2014, he had one more good year after that and than the big drop off started, injuries were an issue, and he was bought out. Price is already dealing with more injuries than Lundquist did.

I don’t see the Kraken signing Danault YET. I could see them signing him, if there was a situation where it looked like  he was probably going back to Montreal. But Danault wants to see what he is worth on the open market. Why sign him now, when you probably overpay to sign him. Would make more sense to just try and sign him once free agency opens up for everyone.

This is so far his best off season IMO. He pretty much protected exactly the guys I thought we should when I was taking to a friend about the Price l-Weber situation. Last season was good, and the D in the Playoffs turned out to be better than expected, but I did not like the moves on D.

great start to the off season business, Next step is get a Hamilton type dman, or make a hurt to match offer sheet of $12m to Makar.

if Danault wants  penny over $4m, don’t bother. I actually think that unless a centre is going to get you around 50 points (don’t think Danault does that I’m Montreal with Suzuki ahead of him), with the flat cap, $3.5m should be the limit. I’m glad we are protecting Evans, because I think he can play a similar role.

Let's say Price is taken by the Kraken, what is everyones thoughts on the Habs goaltending for next year? Is Allen good enough for #1 duty? Is he a 1a 1b with someone else? If so, who is a likely target?
