GHT120
It's official (NHL.com) The NHL is scheduled to break from games from Thursday, February 3 through Tuesday, February 22. All Star weekend in Las Vegas -- beginning on Feb. 4 -- was going to happen whether players are participating in the Olympics or not (ESPN)
The Chicoutimi Cucumber
Like the North Division last season, this is a rare example of the NHL getting something right. Good! 👍

Good! 👍 Of course the season just got compressed AGAIN ... Jake Allen becomes all the more important ... assuming the forwards (i.e., centres) and D-corps can keep the habs in games
dlbalr
While I enjoy the Olympics, I don't enjoy as much trying to come up with three weeks of filler material for HW in the middle of a season. I may be delaying the prospect rankings again for this season just so we have something to run at that time.
alfredoh2009
We’ll have time to talk about Mailloux’s re-insertion into the OHL to fill those weeks and the latest recovery reports on Byron and Weber 🤪 🥴
Habsfan89
Going to be fun seeing Mcdavid and Crosby playing on the same team.
GHT120
The International Olympic Committee says that any confirmed positive COVID-19 case at the Olympic Games must produce two negative tests 24 hours apart. Otherwise, the quarantine period can last from 21 days up to five weeks in accordance with Chinese law. According to TSN Hockey Insider Chris Johnston, this could be problematic for NHL players should they attend the Beijing Winter Olympics next February. A call between the IOC, IIHF, NHL and NHL Players' Association is expected soon to review these matters. THIS could be a big problem ... 3-5 weeks in quarantine ... presumably in China ... missing NHL time and being stuck in China are both Issues IMO. Neech
Hey we get cheer for a good hockey team this year, that's fun. I wonder if Carey will be back. Just seeing the new look best-on-best teams from all the hockey powers will be awesome. USA will be almost on par with Canada talent-wise (I'm giving us the edge mainly because of centre depth). Luckily only the good NHL teams have to worry about losing players to injuries or covid, we get to avoid that stress. Hey, maybe Canada will win gold and the Leafs will lose Matthews, Marner and Reilly hahah.
The Chicoutimi Cucumber
I think Omicron is going to throw a huge spike into this - as it will many things.
GHT120
Assuming it is true, hardly a surprise
