It’ll be good seeing the new look forwards, I don’t care for the look of the defence.  The Romanov - Wideman pairing scares me a lot.

I fully anticipate a beat down as Toronto will have something to prove from last playoffs, not that it matters this season.

Wouldn't shock me ... and of course it would totally negate TO's 473rd consequence first round choke-job.

Kind of hoping the Leafs go up 3-1 and we make the come back, 4-3.

Here’s hoping we score a couple of quick goals, choke the life out of TO and coast to an easy win … and that Steve Dangle’s post game pain is back to being hilarious

So if the Leafs beat the Canadiens tonight, the NHL will rewrite last years playoffs so Toronto made it to the finals, right?

Italicized and bolded "of course" intended to invoke sarcasm ... although Laffs fans may well feel it true.

Here we go! Let's take it to the leafs like it was an elimination game! Spank them hard and give their fans a reason to start the panic early. We all know if they win the leafs parade route will be planned..... Again.

I see the coaching staff really is hoping Savard replaces Weber and plans to play 4 D all night long, just like in the playoffs.

This does not seem sustainable to me over 82 games. So hopefully I am either wrong about how tonight’s minutes will fall, or else Romanov and Wideman manage to gradually claw their way into the coaches’ trust.

Chiarot-Savard is a ridiculous pairing on paper... Chiarot is the puck mover here?  Our D looks shakier than ever without Edmondson and Weber.  We need Romanov to take a big step forward.

Boy do the leafs look rather ordinary with matthews out of the line up. Am I the only one who thinks they continue to get weaker yearly and have basically done away with all that depth they built up from missing 14 of 15 playoff seasons. With Reilly now set to leave in the summer...

Their D looks a lot better than a few years ago, but yeah their forward depth has really dropped off.  Robertson didn't even make the team?  If Reilly leaves they're in trouble.

This isn’t playoff hockey.  There’s no way DD doesn’t give all 3 pairs a regular shift.  Win or lose you can roll 82 games on 4 defenseman.  You can’t burn out your top 4 early in the season.

I forgot Matthews is out.  Leafs without Mr October will be interesting.

That was an interesting start of the game - no doubt.  Too bad Anderson missed.  Savard came close too.

Hopefully, this level of play isnt a honeymoon effect of the season starting and they can keep this up and not just for this game but all season.

If I was a betting man I might have picked Chiarot to get the Habs' first penalty ... but would have expected it to be cross-checking ... go PK go

Nice.  I had no idea who scored because I went to the bathroom during a commercial break and I missed the goal.  It took me a while to notice the score and I was confused when I saw it was 1-1.

Seems like the same story of last season, penalties killing momentum.

That's accurate, but also very true for nearly every NHL team.  Let's see what happens when the Leafs finally get a penalty or more called against them.

TVA stats for tonights game so far shows the Drouin-Dvorak-Anderson line dominating the Leafs in all aspects
