He had (still has, technically) three years left on his deal over there so I thought they'd leave him there until he was closer to being NHL-ready or at least for one more year. I wonder if his lack of ice time forced Montreal's hand into signing him now. The good news is that the wording of Leksands' press release suggests it's Montreal's choice on where to send him and not one where it's only the NHL or SHL.
