Commandant
Riley Kidney has signed his ELC https://www.tsn.ca/montreal-canadiens-riley-kidney-three-year-entry-level-contract-1.1795073 (Centre prospect, 2nd round pick, finished 7th in Q Scoring this year, eligible to go back to the Q next year) Habs reward him for an outstanding season as an 18/19 year old in junior.

I guess it's no surprise. Had an excellent year. Hope he continues to develop like he did this year.
DON
70a this year, hope he kills it in the Q next year!
alfredoh2009
— Mathias Brunet (@mathiasbrunet) May 20, 2022
dlbalr
I'd be surprised if he plays, at least early on. He's not exactly built to play against men right now nor is he the type of player that works on a bottom line (it'd be hard to see him tossed in an offensive role). While there are some exceptions, a lot of junior guys just go to the AHL after they're eliminated to keep skating for a bit.

I would love to see more elite players in the line up, for example: Kidney as a PP specialist.
Commandant
Let him practice with the team but unless hes ready to make an impact he shouldn't be put in the lineup. As Houle said, regular season is for development. Playoffs is for winning. If you get down in the series and want to shake things up AND hes looking good in practive, sure, but right now dont change the winning formula. dlbalr
As of now, Kidney is not with Laval despite what was reported this morning. Doesn't mean he won't be but he's not with the team yet.

I had the same thought ... but the PP is at 29.4% ... and as he apparently isn't yet actually with the team, maybe Wednesday or Friday in Rochester, once the coaches have a chance to see how Rileyfits in and whether help is needed.
