Commandant
The 2022 NHL Draft might be the best draft ever for the country of Slovakia. The third Slovakian in our draft rankings, Filip Mesar was the top centre on the Slovakian team that won a silver medal at last summer’s Hlinka-Gretzky Cup. He scored two goals and six assists for eight points in five tournament games. He also made the Slovakian team for the World Juniors, but the tournament was postponed to August due to a COVID-19 outbreak. Unfortunately, Mesar did not get to play at this spring’s Under-18 World Championships as Slovakia had previously been relegated from the top division. He did play for the Slovakian Men’s team, appearing in three games at the Deutschland Cup. Mesar played his club hockey for HK Poprad in the Slovakian Extraliga. Playing against men, he put up eight goals and eight assists for 16 points in 37 games this season. He also added three goals and an assist for four points in six playoff games. Mesar also appeared in three games for the club in the Continental Cup Tournament. His cousin Maros is also in the Poprad system. https://lastwordonsports.com/hockey/2022/05/21/filip-mesar-scouting-report-2022-nhl-draft/

dlbalr
I thought Mesar would be gone by now. He's an intriguing pickup. There seems to be some optimism he will which would be nice. alfredoh2009
I don’t know it it was mentioned Juraj Slafkovsky, Filip Mesar et Simon Nemec sont trois amis d'enfance, tous sélectionnés en 1re ronde! Les deux premiers nommés se retrouvent à Montréal. Photo IG @f.mesar pic.twitter.com/k3cRcrCrtw — RDS (@RDSca) July 8, 2022
The Chicoutimi Cucumber
Now here is a pick where the Habs clearly went with the guy who had the highest offensive ceiling of those available. 👍 That’s the type of pick you feel good about. DON
Nice choice...it seems. Fine out in a couple years i suppose...another RW (mustached Jagger Firkus) is still available for 33rd pick, but will Habs go with d-man stocky Ryan Chesley this morning? Or reach bit for a jumbo but good skating Noah Warren?
