alfredoh2009
A starting point for discussion: Summing up the currently state of minor-league contracts in the #Habs organization. Lots of UFAs for the Rocket. Lots of players probably won't return. pic.twitter.com/9zvCXKvHI4 — Andrew Zadarnowski (@AZadarski) July 11, 2022 and the CapFriendly list:
GHT120
Interesting. Trois Rivieres seems to have half a roster under contract. Laval & CapFriendly lists do not reflect players who are RFAs under an NHL contract: Primeau Schnarr Teasdale Brook
Meller93
What the deal with rem pitlick not being qualified? Is it a situation where his QO is more than what he’ll cost UFA? I was expecting him back

PMAC
Pitlick had refused the Habs offer and if qualified was eligible for arbitration. The high end of arbitration would be more than the Habs could afford, hence no offer for Rem. It’s too bad, I would have liked him back- at the right price. I am not sure that the Habs see a long term fit as the team progresses so how much they pay him is important.

The Habs don't want to give him a hearing and risk him being awarded more than they want to pay. A lot of teams are doing that today with some of their would-be restricted free agents.

The Chicoutimi Cucumber
That’s a real pity about Rem.
PMAC
What about Sonny Milano as a Pitlick replacement? Just asking as I remember echos of former potential.

Stylistically there's a fit but is there even a spot for him on the roster as things stand? Barring a trade over the next couple of days, I don't think they'll be looking for offensive depth wingers. Maybe some C insurance but that's about it.

I'll be surprised if there are no trades at all this week (by the Habs), as I'm very much expecting Hugo to make a move or two.

I thought he had the tools to develop into a good NHL defensemen but they don't all develop the way you hope for. Injuries really hampered his development. Likely to a one-way contract (not that I expect they would risk losing him on waivers) and a "gentleman's agreement that if Price proves he is healthy they will move him or Allen (also to the Habs' benefit roster-wise) ... OR, in my dreams, Price.

With a one-way deal, it's less risky to try to send him down as teams may not want the risk of having a third goalie on a one-way deal (assuming Montembeault would be claimed as a short-term injury replacement; no one's claiming him to be a full-time #2).
