This. I don’t want the Leafs to win a Cup until after I’m dead

And even that is a stretch in my book.

good luck to all past Habs, including Kulak

Nice. I always liked Kulak and would enjoy seeing him raise Lord Stanley’s Mug.

I’d guess the odds to be about 60-40 in FLA’s favour, but really, it’s anyone’s guess. Edmonton has this habit of getting stronger and stronger as series progress. 🤷‍♂️

I feel badly for McDavid. He must be inconsolable. Maybe Price will give him a call to commiserate about what it’s like to be a franchise player who watches the other guys skate around with the Cup.

FLA only needed to bring their premium defensive game once, and they waited to the end, but brought it. They’re full value, as almost every Cup winner is - that trophy is one brutally hard mofo to win. (Watching this, it seems unimaginable that the Habs will ever win it again, but of course things change very quickly in sports).

For my money, the really disappointing thing from Edmonton was Dreiseitl. Great in the dot, I guess, solid two-way game, but he generated next to nothing offensively. In Game 7, McDavid set him up twice by the side of the net, right where he likes it, and both times were flubs. He must have been injured, because otherwise that performance is pretty disastrous…probably the single most important variable explaining the Oiler defeat. If you are built around two league-leading superstars, you need both of them to step up in the clutch, not just one.

Draisaitl did little all series outside of the sauce pass in game 6.  He was so good in the three rounds before the final though and has always been good in the playoffs so I wonder if he was hurt.

Kudos to Florida, it's a hard grind to get to the final and to do that 2 years in a row is an accomplishment to be proud of. Deserving champions.

Kudos to the Oilers, they never quit, just came up a little short.

Sorry that Edmonton lost but happy for Maurice. He is a genuine good guy

Agreed, has always been one of my favourite coaches,  almost always a great interview.

I guess was great run to come back and tie the series and nice for Luongo to at least get a ring.

I couldn’t believe Maurice said that he hopes Winnipeg wins the next cup.

He doesn’t want Florida to repeat?

I think what he said (or at least meant) was for Winnipeg to be the next team to win their first Cup

I have to admit I did not watch the playoffs closely (:rastapop:) but what little I saw of the Finals it didn't look to me like Draisaitl was moving well.

This would make sense and it is probably what he meant.

Good guy and I’m happy for him

I read someplace that Corey Perry has now lost in four Finals in the last five years.

OUCH.

All with different teams I believe.

Hossa went to 3 finals in a row with 3 different teams;

stuck out with Pitt & Wings before getting his ring with Hawks

And the year he didn't lose in the Final... he lost to the Leafs, which as we all know, no other team has done in the post-04/05 lockout era.  Bigger OUCH!
