nshabs
Coming from Nova Scotia for first Habs game(s) sometime late fall/early winter once the schedule releases. Any suggestions to start coming up with a plan of best sections to sit, pre game bars/activities, suggested accommodations, things to do, etc? I have been doing some research on my own but figured this would be a great spot to get some info. There would just be two of us flying in. Hoping to catch a home back to back or 2 in 3 nights and would probably be a weekend in November sometime. Any advice appreciated, thanks! tomh009
Sounds like a great trip! Alas, it has been far too long since my last Habs home game so I don't have any good suggestions for you.
illWill
I go up from PEI at least once a year to catch a game. There's a Best Western that I usually stay at which is on Drummond street that leads directly to the Bell Center, it's maybe a 10 minute walk and super easy to find your way back after the game. Not the best hotel but it is pretty cheap in comparison to others and there is a Cora's right next door which comes in clutch the morning after. I've also heard there is a great massage parlour across the street as well if you're feeling stressed about the game In regards to the best seats, I've sat all over the arena and there isn't really a bad seat in the place. Even sitting in the very back row you have good sight lines and feel almost on top of the ice, but the downfall being you're not immersed in the sound of the fans. I tend to find seats in the 300s to be the best value. There a lot of bars and restaurants in the area to go to before the game. Le Cage is a great spot and is attached to the Bell Center, but you'll need to show up a couple hours early and you can expect to wait in line to get in. I usually go there but have also gone to a place called Bier Market or something like that, it's huge and you can usually get in no problem. I would recommend going on the Bell Center tour if you can. They take you around the whole place and you get to go up to the broadcast area, the Hab legends room, etc, and even get to see the dressing room (except on game day). I remember walking around town with my Habs jersey on for my first game, and the feeling of seeing so many likeminded fans is truly special. Don't be surprised if you are high fiving strangers or chanting Ole' outside after a win. Enjoy!
JoeLassister
I usually like to grab a smoked meat sandwich at Dunn's on Metcalf st. before games. It's pretty close to the Bell Centre and, well, I like smoked meat
RobRock
A couple of friends and I are going to be catching (hopefully) the game against the Kraken at the end of October. Can anyone give a hint on what the tickets might cost, depending on where they are?
