I'm less worried about Heineman who was off his game for the second half of the season, and more worried about the impact of losing Armia and Dvorak. We have Demidov (undoubtedly good) and Dach (hopefully good) but neither one is really a PK specialist.

The Leafs lose Marner, the Habs add Dobson, the gap between the two teams is certainly narrowing.

Leafs don’t have draft capital to trade and UFA market is getting small.

The five best UFAs in this class (no particular order) are Nick Ehlers, Brock Boeser, Mikael Granlund, Jake Allen, and Vladislav Gavrikov. 

 

Anybody wanna talk about how good next year's class is, like any of them will even make it to July 1st.

I could see an offer going to Ehlers from the Habs … going to be lots of interest

I dont want him. Unless Laine goes this year. Loving the speed and skill, but some battle is badly needed in the top 6. Doesn't have to be mean or gritty,  but needs to win puck battles. A la lehkonen.  Can't be picky with 2C, but i really feel like any top 6 add needs to be a battler.

I agree. For all his skill, Ehlers best goal total is 29 and best point total is 64. Not that impressive for a skilled guy that has been in the league 10 years. I see an overpay coming for Ehlers and I hope it's not us.

Alex Pietrangelo says that injuries have ended his hockey career. 

 

He needs surgery on both hips and his shoulder.  He's effectively going on the Carey Price, Shea Weber, Chris Pronger, etc.... LTIRetirement plan.

That's unfortunate. He has had a good career though, won 2 cups. Explains why he didn't play in the 4 nations cup
