Just a matter of time before Beck is a regular for the Habs. Having an excellent year in Laval.

Owen Beck is currently the Laval Rocket’s leading scorer

90 days if Evans and/or Dvorak get moved at the deadline ... otherwise 300-ish

he has been 🤩 tremendous 😍 this season. Way better NHL projection than Condotta, RHP, Roy, etc, etc, His goals this weekend were just amazing and hos forechecking and awareness on the ice was evident.

I hope they do not rush him to the NHL. At least until Dvorak is gone to take that spot.

They played with no backup goalie ... 😮

NO zamboni driving emergency guy available?

Nazar seems might of been better to have picked now; than trading the pick for Dach.

But all in hindsight and I am still in favour of the attempt by Hughes.

I know they recalled Luke Cavallin from Trois-Rivieres before the game to serve as the backup.

The Lions were at home ... maybe traffic was heavy on Route 40?

I hope we keep Evans, and I don't know if anyone will take Dvorak without retention.

I hated the trade at the time, thinking why didn't we just draft Nazer. But seeing Dach in the second half of his first year and the start of last year - when he played with confidence - he looked amazing. So, I'm good with the Dach trade.

Newhook looked good last night, but I still think he was an overpay. I wish we took the same approach with that we did last year, where instead of trading for Newhook, we used picks to move up. Newhook looks like a third line guy to me, but who knows, his game yesterday may get him going. That was the first game I saw him being assertive (in carrying the puck, passing, and shooting). He also was driving to the net which he hasn't been doing and that may have been a factor on the Caufield goal. So there is still hip that he even if it was an overpay he could be part of the future. But we need more games like last night, not the crap we've seen all year.

Maybe he didn't get there on time? He was not included on the official scoresheet.

Rocket fail to launch in frustrating loss to the Americans

"... Jared Davidson snuck in along the boards to swipe a loose puck. With a clear lane to the net, he moved in and ripped his 11th goal of the year by Devon Levi to give Laval a very early lead."

"The strangely low-event game continued for the Rocket and Americans heading into the second period, with both teams struggling to establish much of an offensive presence or rhythm."

"After a failed clearing attempt, and Tyler Wotherspoon opting to lay a hit while ignoring the puck, Riley Fiddler-Schultz ripped one past Hughes to tie the game."

"The woes continued into the third period for the Rocket, who opened the frame with Beck ripping a shot straight off the crossbar behind Levi. That attempt did not count as a shot, and in the nine minutes that followed, the Rocket could not put a single puck on net to try to cut into the Rochester advantage."

Same as Habs 4-2 loss with empty-netter

Laval Rocket @ Hartford Wolf Pack Saturday, December 14, 2024 | TheAHL.com | The American Hockey League

Mailloux/Beck 5 shots each

Engstrom4 shots

Play again 3pm today.

The skid continues for the Laval Rocket against the Wolf Pack

"The defence continued to be shuffled around as Pascal Vincent sought a way to tidy up the issues on the back end. William Trudeau was paired up with Josh Jacobs, Tyler Wotherspoon sided with Adam Engström, while on the third pairing it was Logan Mailloux and Zack Hayes. Gustav Lindström and Noel Hoefenmayer were healthy scratches while Jakub Dobeš also missed out due to injury. Connor Hughes was again turned to as the starter while Luke Cavallin served as his backup once more."

Well, I didn't have a five-goal third period and a Xhekaj hat-trick (five points overall) on the bingo card today but he helped lead Laval to a 6-2 win. :1banana:

Florian scored as many goals as there were fans in Bridgeport today.

He basically doubled his output for the year in 1 game.

Rocket Weekly: Some Mid-Month Struggles – HabsWorld.net

"...Right now, they’re in a downturn but if their key scorers get back to form, they can turn things around relatively quickly.  Perhaps not to being first in the AHL again but enough to assuage any concerns about them perhaps peaking too soon."

It's nice to see Davidson having such a good year, great tenacity and work ethic. A lot to like. Watched him a bit in junior, just never thought his skating was good enough to be a difference maker at the NHL level but I would love to be wrong on that.

Nice article about Davidson, definitely the kind of guy you cheer for.

I hope he does too, improving his skating is the key. He can shoot the puck, he works hard, he can play both ends of the ice. I think the only thing holding him back is footspeed which is a big thing. Maybe it has improved.

Noel Hoefenmayer will play for Canada at the upcoming Spengler Cup.  So the Habs will have one player there and one at the WJC's.  That's a lot less than usual.

In other Laval news, Dobes is back tonight and I think Mesar is too.
