0/6 on the PP, dont think have many PP goals in last while.

"Primeau looked sharp as he fought off wave after wave of shots on goal to keep the game level as the halfway point of the period approached."

"The stagnant power play continued to be an issue as Primeau ended up making more saves than his opponent, including a pair in tight on Aatu Räty to keep the game scoreless."

"...the Rocket’s top power play unit didn’t see much of the ice and the second unit, with a few changes, got most of the time."

1 blemish for Primeau and only goal against;

"As Primeau tried to adjust to find the puck he accidentally steered it into the net, giving Abbotsford a tying goal out of nowhere."

Take the win and run!

Laval plays in rematch at 7pm today.

I am confused by the box score for this game.  Maybe someone who watched the game can explain.

The box score shows that Simoneau scored at 10:13 of the 2nd period and also that he received a 2 minute minor for goalie interference also at 10:13 of the 2nd period.

Did this really happen?  I could see scoring and then also getting a roughing penalty after the puck went in.  If the interference comes first then surely there should be no goal.  If the goal comes first then the play is dead and I don't think goalie interference is prohibited after the whistle.

Maybe the box score is wrong?   Did anyone here see what happened?

Must of got it after scoring, havent heard exactly why. Just others questioning it as well.

Xavier Simoneau of the Laval Rocket scores vs. the Abbotsford Canucks 1/3/25

still dont see what it was, or deemed he ran into goalie after scoring is the call, i guess?

the RDS commentators where as confused and there was no explanation from the ref on the PA. My guess is that, like when a net is dislodged but the puck goes in the net, the puck was going in despite the jnterference which happened after. It was a deviation off Simoneau’s skate

There wouldnt be many #2 cs in the NHL if the only place you could find them was top 10 picks.

I get thats where most #1cs come from but #2s are found in many other ways.

At the moment the Canadiens 2C will likely be Dach, Hage or Demidov. Outside chances are Beck, Kapanen or Suzuki. Low chances are Evans.

If Montreal picks inside the top 8, I would say chances increase that the player is a possible 1C or 2C (if BPA isn’t the LHD).

From what we have to choose from now, only 2 players could supplant Suzuki. Demidov or our first pick 2025. After the 2025 draft, we won’t be picking high enough to expect the pick to be a 1C…. or even a 2C.

So, unless we do a trade, there aren’t many other ways for Montreal to find a 2C, unless it is in this draft…. or a player on the above list steps up.

Looking at the Top 20 scorers at centre (or NHL.com listed as centres) and Point was 79th, Necas was 12th, Scheifele was 7th, Thomas was 20th and Kopitar was 11th ... so possible but not probable ... eliminated Guentzel based on the number of faceoffs taken.

A top 20 scorer is a first line c.  A quality number 2 C would be guys in the 30s and 40s.

I was only willing to invest so much time ... 😉

Aho, Kyrou, Barbashev in the second round; Point, Guentzel, Protas, Cirelli, Verhaeghe in the third.

How about Jake Evans - drafted in the seventh round.

Evans with Laine and Demidov with second PP duties might just produce as a second liner.

David Desharnais with Laine and Demidov, with second PP duties, might just produce as a second liner ... but would make Desharnais a 2C I-M-O.

A second line centre should be playing with top 6 wingers no?

Most second line centres also get second PP unit

And wasn’t Desharnais our first line centre?

And Datsyuk was taken 171st overall… 6th round

Law of averages says we have our best shot at finding another option for 2C with our first pick of 2025… (unless obvious BPA is playing another position.) But sure we could find a Datsyuk, Aho or a Point later, but if I had to bet on it I’d take the higher draft pick every time.

He played centre on the Habs' first line ... he was never a legit first-line centre

Why is this laval related? Am i missing something?

no, you are not. Some posters have been going off topic on the wrong threads.

Well, not too long ago @dlbalr used to remind us to keep on the thread topic.

oh, well … :spamafote:

Realistically, it's impossible. We would have to be moving comments to different threads all the time. And people would disagree about what is an appropriate thread for a given comment.

So, chill, relax, and live with the imperfection of life (and Internet forums).

You mean @DON, right? He is as asking, I just replied to him.

For my part, I never cared. But was reminder a few time to keep on topic and have tried to do so since
