I would to have Mete back, but playing in Laval

Would he want an AHL spot when he is behind Xhekaj, Barron, Reinbacher, Engström,Mailloux, Struble and Hutson on the Habs depth chart, and even(?) with Trudeau?

from that article, it appears he is already an AHLer and is past his NHL peek. He loved it in MTL and if he married a Quebecker it may be good for him. He may be a good option on the PP in Laval and sheltering prospects as they learn the ropes

I don't know that the Habs want to "shelter" prospects in the AHL ... the idea seems more to give them lots of TOI in a variety of situations ... I see "sheltering" as more likely in the NHL; for example, Hutson getting PP time but selective, third pairing minutes (such as avoiding some defensive zone faceoffs in tight games).

Bisson-Paquette covered Mailloux and others when paired with them. That is what Inwas revering to.

Veterans are depended upon for that, and Mete could do that in Laval

Terminology difference then ... I consider "sheltering" to be hiding the player and only using them in optimal circumstances ... being paired with a youngster I see as "supporting/mentoring" them.

If sheltering is the same as supporting/mentoring, then what is it when players are only played in optimal sitiuations?

In reality, I think most French speaking coaches with NHL coaching experience (except for Therrien) could be seen as a potential replacement for MSL when it's time. Hopefully that is not for a while as I think MSL is doing a great job.

Exactly.

Plus DLC is not much better than clickbait30.  They do a lot of the same bullshit.  In this case its just saying something obvious, french AHL coach of a team that hires only french speaking head coaches is a candidate for an eventual head coach opening whenever that comes.

"The development staff in Montreal will have to make a decision on whether the better path for him is to play for the Laval Rocket, or to return for an over-age year in the OHL before turning pro."

(Not in question, just is an option.)

It's a fair one to wonder about.  On the one side, sending him to play against a bunch of smaller players where he can away with a lot simply because of his size/strength isn't ideal.  On the other hand, he looks like he'd be a fourth-liner in Laval, maybe on the third when injuries creep up.  If that's the case, might it make more sense to put him back in junior where he'll play 20-plus minutes a night?  I think they're leading toward putting him with the Rocket but I can definitely see a viable case to send him back.

A Unicorn, isnt that how he was referred to?

2024 Montreal Canadiens Top 25 Under 25: #23 Florian Xhekaj (habseyesontheprize.com)

"He’ll be coming to rookie and main camp for Montreal this season riding a pretty absurd development curve."

Laval or OHL?
"Brock Otten from McKeen’s scouting joined our podcast recently and suggested that the best place for Xhekaj to continue developing his offensive game is the OHL."

Smallish and i guess not big on physicality?

What kinds of season can we expect him to have in Laval?

2024 Montreal Canadiens Top 25 Under 25: #20 Filip Mesar (habseyesontheprize.com)

"He’s unable to fight through contact, which is tough for a player who thrives in possession like he does. Even with his quick feet and good hands, a bigger player can somewhat easily get between him and his designs of carrying the puck deep into the offensive zone."

Way too early to write Mesar off but my expectations are very low.
