GHT120 Posted July 4, 2024 Posted July 4, 2024 Interview with Rob Ramage, Owen Beck and Florian Xhekaj from the development camphttps://x.com/i/broadcasts/1ypJdkqjqBqGW Ramage handled questions well ... some nice things to say about Beck and Florian Xhekaj amongst others ... talked about Beck being Byron's project last season ... Beck did a fairly long session with the reporters ... handles himself brilliantly ... quite a gap between Beck and Florian's interviews Quote
DON Posted July 4, 2024 Posted July 4, 2024 My god those poor kids, they had like 10-15 minute press conferences each. And the number of stupid questions from the media was too hard to watch them all. here they all are, if want to hear see kid interviews https://www.nhl.com/canadiens/video/topic/press-pass/ https://montrealhockeynow.com/2024/07/04/montreal-canadiens-news-development-camp-guhle-extension-cost-habs/ Fowler (6'1 219lbs) looks bit pudgy, compared to the likes of a Beck. Prime Minister Koivu Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 Huge game about to start at 11am Interesting rosters Quote

Couple of early observations from #Habs development camp scrimmage. Michael Hage is a very smooth skater carrying the puck with his head up and Florian Xhekaj likes to run over people. #HabsIO 1 Quote

TurdBurglar Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 I missed the live scrimmage from development camp that @Prime Minister Koivu posted the lines from above. Posting a link if anyone wanted to watch it. Quote

I don’t remember who it was but one of the development coaches said that they wanted Laval bound players to stay home and train on their own until official training camp. Quote

Rob Ramage said he wanted the Europeans to stay home and train rather than flying back and forth. Heard it on 690. Quote
tomh009 Posted July 5, 2024 Author Posted July 5, 2024 Any feedback on the goalies from the camp so far? Especially the mysterious Vecvanags? 😊 Quote

Some absences are obvious (e.g., why does Hutson need "development") ... in the post-practice interview yesterday, Ramage mentioned that they didn't invite anyone currently training in Europe to avoid what they felt was unnecessary travel ... I assume Zetterberg was already over here for the draft. Quote

I assume Zetterberg was already over here for the draft. Zetterberg is also an undrafted player trying to make an impression. Unlikely he signs as he's headed to the NCAA. But the Habs get a look at him and could be players when he hits NCAA free agency (or draft him next year). Before anyone asks... no he is not related to Henrik Zetterberg. Quote

You would think they would want to have at least the extra look at Kapanan, since it's either Montreal or Europe for him. Quote

I think he had commitments or LIIGA training and same boat as Koivu i guess and they didnt want to screw with their summer routine. And odds are he will spend another year in LIIGA anyways. And now have hired a Finnish development guy right there now to keep eye on them and Adam Nicholas can still do virtual stuff with them . Quote

He won't be in Liiga, he'll be either in SHL or playing for the Habs (he has both contracts signed). I do expect him in the training camp/ Quote
Prime Minister Koivu Posted July 6, 2024 Posted July 6, 2024 I like this guy and I hope he makes it. “I wouldn’t say I model my game after Stevens but I used to watch a lot of Scott Stevens highlights…some pretty big hits. Kronwall was always a big guy growing up, being Kronwalled. Hopefully if I get into the league I’ll get a ‘Here comes Protz.’” 1 Quote

IN THE HEARTS OF MEN Posted July 7, 2024 Posted July 7, 2024 Can't wait to see what these Habs look like next season with Dach returning, and likely matured, humbled and hopefully very motivated. Quote

If he can play a full season and avoid any serious injury is most important, given his track record. But, like everyone i hope his line can be dangerous enough to draw more attention away from the Suzuki line. Quote
