GHT120
Just now, Habs Fan in Edmonton said: I don't think anyone was suggesting that inserting Arber would solve all their problems, even myself who is probably his biggest fan on these boards wouldn't suggest that. No way one player can solve all their problems. I think Arber felt a lot of pressure to be the guy to stick up for the players and it's probably taken away from his regular game a bit. The comment was intended to be pre-emptive, not a reaction to anything that was said here ... but it was said/suggested elsewhere on the "net". Prime Minister Koivu
Pretty straight forward message for Xhekaj. I hope he has a much better game. I’m guessing that Struble sits
DON
Dont panic sounds like a smart plan. Loose puck | The Canadiens are still in the midst of their rebuild: don't panic! | La Presse "Organizations whose reconstructions have dragged on or failed have been victims of a lack of patience at this stage, when we no longer see the beginning or the end. When we should remain faithful to the plan." "There will be other tough nights like Tuesday's. And games that will rekindle some hope, like this win over the Senators two weeks ago. If your expectations are high, though, there's only one possible conclusion: you'll be disappointed." Look at the special teams, much better, so far. Centre scoreboard this evening. The Chicoutimi Cucumber
Panic is a terrible idea. Firing MSL at this juncture = panic. Moving a core young player or high pick for short-term help = panic. Tweaking the roster - e.g., acquiring a bottom-pairing steady defender - isn’t panicking, though. I would like to pickup an average bottom-4 RD like Fabbro or Zub, but I am not sure how much it would cost.

Not only that, it also needs to fit into the plan (and cap) for next season, unless it's an expiring contract.

The Habs are still in the rebuild so trading assets for a rental seems dumb. 2. He's 28... you already said about 28 year old evans that he needs to be replaced sooner than later but you think a 28 year old Fabbro is young enough to fit the window (which i assume means signing him cause as i said, rentals during a rebuold are dumb). Double standard much on age and contracts though?
DON
Xhekaj with 20:34minutes last night, nice work. “I had a good talk with Marty, and it was, just, relax. I was overthinking things. I was too worried about things I couldn’t control. Just clear my mind. I know I’m a good player, so just play the game. And it went well,” Xhekaj said. “He definitely helps me a lot and definitely tells me, like, ‘Just play, man. You know what to do out there. Don’t worry about anything, just play.’ “Yeah, we wanted to kill more plays and generate opportunities from that. So yeah, a little bit more (man-to-man),” Hutson said. “We were trying just to not give them much space at all. But obviously, breakdowns happen, so if you see a breakdown, you leave your man and try to help the play. It definitely helped. I felt like we killed way more plays.” How a simplified version of what the Canadiens hope to become defensively sent them forward - The Athletic
Prime Minister Koivu
I was surprised that St. Louis played Xhekaj on the right side. The kid was struggling so he sat for two games. His first game back and he plays on the wrong side? 🧐 He played well anyway.

Hutson impresses more every game. Love his heart and work ethic, his skill, his brain. He is a keeper!!!

Prime Minister Koivu
Last week the Habs were dead last in 5 on 5 offence and 5 on 5 team defence. This week the Habs are middle of the pack for 5 on 5 team offence 👍 Unfortunately they are still dead last for 5 on 5 team defence.

tomh009
Looking at our poor face-off performance this season, the reasons become pretty clear when you look at the individual stats. Only eight games, but ... Kapanen 54% (26 faceoffs) Suzuki 52% (132) Evans 51% (113) Dvorak 44% (63) Dach 40% (25) Newhook 37% (46) I don't know why Dvorak's numbers are so much lower than last year, and particularly so on the PK. It's encouraging to see Kapanen at 53% as a rookie, although it's only 26 faceoffs so far.
tomh009
Habs now third-best in PP%+PK%: 1. Winnipeg 131.0% 2. Ottawa 116.7% (pending completion of Colorado game) 3. Prime Minister Koivu
So what’s Marty going to do when Slafkovsky comes back? There is no denying the chemistry and positive effect that Dach has on the Suzuki line. At the same time, Habs desperately need a strong second line centre. The Kapanen - Newhook - Armia line is consistently the worst line according to the game stats. What would you do when Slaf gets back? Put Slafkovsky back with Suzuki and have Dach centre the second line? Or something different? Dach - Suzuki - Caufield Slafkovsky - Newhook - Gallagher Anderson - Evans - Armia Heineman - Dvorak - Kapanen Gallagher has been great and I’m not opposed to him getting more minutes
