What’s to understand about Suzuki’s contract ?

Read what I wrote.

I ask for more grit from the team at the moment, but i am under no aspersions that this is what is needed to fix the team and pull it towards a cup starting in 4 years. Yes 3-4 years before they are competitive in the playoffs.

(meaning Suzuki will have two years in his window before we renegociate. By that time we may be pitching him a la Tavares and Stamkos.)

I appreciate that you have knowledge. I appreciate you teach others about some of the analytical aspects. But you’re a bully.

I registered in September, and by my third post you were harassing me about my thoughts. My own thoughts !! Still are harassing me despite me not bothering you.

You may be some local longterm hero on here for some, but not me.

i have you blocked, but when i come on without being logged in and see you still decide to chime in on what I say, i find it exasperating. It’s easy to critique without putting people down or being condescending, but you have not grasped decorum.

I thought it was hilarious when you said how intellectually superior you were to the potato head guy. Shows class.

Stop thinking you are better than other people posting their ideas. There are probably people wanting to post but are worried about your wrath.

You’ll be on here long after I leave the chat room. It’s probably your life.

For me this is just to witness how a team is built from scratch. It’s the fun part for me.

I have, not once, attacked you personally

Have I challenged your thoughts? Have I attacked your opinions? YES.... of course.  But that's not personal.

If you take it personal, then perhaps a sports message board is not for you.

I have no obligation to agree with your opinions.... nor do you have any obligation to agree with mine or anyone else's.

If you can't handle someone challenging your opinion and feel that is a personal attack or that you are being bullied cause I don't agree with you... then maybe you should not read my posts.  Keep em blocked, but that's a you problem... not mine.

If someone posts something I disagree with, I'm going to say it, and explain why.  That's the whole point of a message board.

And yes, one day Suzuki won't be part of the team.  One Day Hutson won't either, same with Demidov, same with how Price, Subban, Lafleur, Rocket Richard, Beliveau, and everyone in history has aged out.  Father time waits for no one.  Its a little pre-mature though to say he won't be part of the core six years from now.  There is plenty of time to build the team into a winner with him as a key component before we have to worry about what happens in 2030.

I am sorry if I am one of the posters that made you feel that way. In my case English is my third language and I have posted before that I try to do my best: but also that I do not take myself too seriously. I come here to have fun and escape the day-to-day grind

Keep posting. I enjoy your ideas

Thanks Alfred .. sorry I’m too lazy to look up your name and call you potato head…. I was not referring to you. I don’t think you have ever misconstrued my sarcasm or satire. Nor took a sentence I wrote and twisted it to suit your narrative. Second language comment was a generalization. I wish my French was strong enough to be considered a second language and I am envious of people who do have a second language. I played soccer with a guy who spoke 7.

I apologize if it's not my business to offer an opinion on this but can't someone put another poster on ignore if they don't want to see or don't like their posts? Not a feature I would ever use but it seems we have reached a point where some posters will likely never get along and I don't want to see any poster leave out of frustration as the more opinions the better.

I am sure as a moderator that this is a pain in the butt to deal with and I appreciate your efforts.

@alfredoh2009 you have been warned before. Twice. Don’t start anything and don’t bait people. Even if you might think it’s funny. Just don’t do it.

I do not understand how mentioning a flying toy is in any way insulting to any one

Others get away with far worse.

You know exactly what you are doing.

And that's fine.

Like I said, the mods can deal with it for now.   But if you want to continue to go for attacks instead of talking hockey I will eventually lose patience with the mods and you'll regret it.  We both know I can and will be more vicious than you can handle if you want to make things personal.

I'm asking you nicely to drop the shit.

I'm genuinely curious how a random guy posting here would regret anything he says to antagonize you, since you've been making all kinds of threats lately. Get him banned? Say mean things to him? Hack his IP address and set his house on fire?

Either way, the threats are ridiculous for a hockey thread, especially from someone whose name is public, and I assume is a professional. I personally enjoy and look forward to your Habs opinions and analysis, so I think this place would be better if you stick to that.

So that it's very obviously stated, I suggest you read some of the interpretations of the particular phrase in here.  https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=go fly a kite

Upon doing so, you'll understand why your continued usage and implication of that phrase is insulting and why it needs to stop.

I said I'd give the mods an opportunity to deal with it first and I'll do that.

As for what I will do.  I'm not going to give that away.

Well at least it is a nice way.

I’ve been called stupid or what I write stupid by one or two posters and I would rather a euphemism…. Euphemisms are more polite…. Sort of.

Somebody said I was smoking crack once too. I thought it was funny. Way better than stupid.

Bergevin

Too bad he didn’t walk after 2016-17 season before opening the Molson vault and signing crazy deals.

I suspect someone will hire him. Hope they are in our division or conference. Just not us.

He did take the team to the finals in 2021, which really is nothing to scoff at. That was the first time since 1993 ...

Yes. We barely made the playoffs in a weird situation. Had a miraculous run to the finals largely on the back of one player he did not draft. No one enjoyed it more than I.

Those playoffs were an incredible series of flukes and great plays straight out of a movie. (I’m thinking 1989s classic, Major League.) Huge comeback vs TML and we should all be buying drinks for MA Fleury whenever we see him.

The team was a Jenga tower starting the summer of 2017 and toppling in 2021-22. Jeepers did he bungle the summer of 2017.

He drafted poorly, hired poorly, re-signed poorly and handed over a team to Hughes saddled with issues and in way worse condition than what he received. Then he rode off into the sunset and is now saying he wanted to walk anyway, but instead he was fired. Cry me a river.

I do appreciate Caufield, Suzuki and Mailloux (even the sneaky sneak way we got him), but it does not begin to balance the problems he left behind in order to give us one or two solid playoff runs in 10 years.

Don't need or want to start a debate on him. He’s not worth the time.

I have a dog.

I’m waiting to see what happens in 2030 when we have:

Fowler

Demidov

Hage

Reinbacher

Hutson

Mailloux

2025 first round

2026 first round

(maybe a couple of other 2025 and/or 2026 first round picks)

To sign or already signed longterm….

And we have expiring contracts to re-sign…

Guhle

Slafkovsky

Suzuki

Caufield

Which decisions will Hughes make on the core assuming this will cause us to need to spend over the salary cap… There will already be cap issues starting about the summer of 2029.

A usual core you could argue requires 6 forwards getting 45% of the cap.

3 defensemen getting about 20% of the cap.

1 goalie getting 8% of the cap. 10% max.

Fit the rest of the team in the last 25%

If these players all pan out, or others come into their groove (Heineman, Roy, ???) We will have musical chairs.

Enjoy the math boys.

I didn’t know it meant that. I thought it meant to go do something futile with your time instead of bothering me. Honestly.

I’ll say something else like “go get a coffee” or “go do you Christmas shopping” or something like that.

There is one tho g though, I would like the moderators to ask him to stop treating others here. He is a lawyer by trade and I do not want to get sued or harm by a random guy on a sports forum.

I'm going to make this really easy for you.

Respond with hockey arguments or don't respond at all.... Its ####ing simple.

You don't need to say, go fly a kite, go get a coffee, or anything that is off topic.  Its a hockey forum FFS.

Just to bring some levity to the situation. When I was a kid (many many years ago), my mother would occasionally tell me to go fly that instrument. She was a religious person so I don't think she was thinking of the current urban dictionary definition. Perhaps meanings evolve over time. You have to be careful these days.

Anyway, you do know now what not to say on this forum.  Go Habs!!

LOL. Yeah, my poor mastery of English gets me in trouble from time to time.

I remember a coworker being mad at me because I was using  Bellow instead of Below. I though I know the difference and yelled at me for 15 minutes in a conference room 😬

Might as well admit that you aren't smart enough to actually have a discussion about hockey so you resort to personal attacks.  Quit acting like a Mental ####ing midget and contribute to the board.

Or I'll make good on my treats (your spelling), douchebag.
