Confused between the greig interference vs xhekaj interference and how one is a 2 minute and tge other is a major and misconduct.

My internet is acting up so it jumped around but from what I saw of both I absolutely agree.   Both hits looked similar to me, in fact I thought the hit on Dach looked worse.

Dach does look good, so good at controlling the play.  Arber's got to be more disciplined, whether that should have been 2 or 5 doesn't matter, was a late hit.

I agree about the lateness, but Arber needs to start using his shoulders more than his fists.

He made the identical hit that greig did. It was a response hit.

Looked to me like Greig made INITIAL contact with the body whereas Xhekaj was straight to the head.

Not the smartest by WiFi as they were bound to pick on him. But bullsh1t officiating has ruined the game. I’m going to bed!

It was a frigging headshot.

Then why was initial call hit to the head major. They reviewed and called it interference major.

Habs have one shot in four power plays so far.

Sens are 4/7 on PP (yes, there was a fiver in there) ... but Evans, Savard and Mailloux have been on the ice for three of those four. I don't think Mailloux is ready for this, and Evans is missing Armia (who is getting less PK time because he's on PP).

Just because it's Stutzle, I assume he embellished as well

That was my initial thought too.

The hit to the head was from Stutzle's own stick.  Meanwhile, Grieg's shoulder instantly caused Dach's head to snap backwards.  The initial contact part of that rule is basically nonsense when a player can hit someone in the chest and then immediately uppercut them in the chin with their shoulder.  The same is true for the skates can lift off the ice after contact.  They need to modify both of those aspects of the rules.

Ullmark played a strong game, Primeau was more or less OK. Habs' xGF was almost double that of Ottawa. Either goaltending or fewer penalties would have won the game.

The most TOI in the game? Armia at 23+ minutes.

Looked like the initial point of contact was the gloves and stick which came up and hit the head. That might be the only thing that saves him from a suspension. Having said that those blind side hits are dangerous, Arber needs to get better.

I had no problem with him going after the Leaf player but I didn't like this. It killed any momentum they had.

As far as the rest of the team goes, Dach looked really good, Struble played a smart disciplined game, Evans really skated well and I think Kapanen has a great stick, anticipates well, intercepted passes and was nice to see him get a goal. I think he might be staying.

That was Grieg, not WiFi

I agree ... but I was explaining why the refs under the current rules made the call.

Nope. Xhekaj hit was initially a 5 minute major for illegal hit to the head. Refs reviewed it for several minutes and changed it to 5 and a game for interference.  100%

If I were MSL I would not dress my projected Top 6 or Top 4 or Montembeault or Primeau Saturday in Ottawa.

Is there a deadline for euro signings? Can we keep Kapanen around for two months before cutting him and sending him to Europe?

I believe the 9-game "tryout" before burning a year of the ELC only applies to CHL draftees, so I expect not.

10 Thoughts: Penalty Kill Costs the Habs against Ottawa – HabsWorld.net

Roy, Dach, Struble as 3 stars, good to hear.

How did Primeau look?

Xhekaj needs anger management?

Primeau was not great. GSAAx of -2.24 (Ullmark had GSAAx of +0.46) according to naturalstattrick.com. Should really make more than six saves on ten PP shots.

Xhekaj, it was not anger, but he needs better decision-making. Referees did not throw the book at Grieg in spite of the check to Dach's head, and Grieg refused multiple challenge to fight. So, Xhekaj decided that he needed to demonstrate that dirty checks on the Habs' top players are not acceptable--by giving the Sens a dose of the same.

Resulted in three goals against (yeah, should not have been that many) and that would be totally unacceptable in the regular season, but in the pre-season, yeah, it's not as bad, and it certainly did send a message.

It doesnt only apply to CHLers.

However, Kapanen isnt eligible as hes too old.

Good points about Xhekaj. I missed the 1st period while I was getting signed up for NHL Center Ice so I didn't see the Grieg hit and obviously that set the tone for things that happened later.

I got a different read on Xhekaj. I think these last two games have cemented his spot on the team opening night. He is willing to sacrifice himself for the team at all times. Im sure the team loves it and he wont be punished internally for it. Multiple Habs challenged Greig and he refused, even as Habs were cleanly targeting him he wouldnt engege.

Xhekaj just casually reminded OTT they have stars on their team as well that can be targeted If Greig will and would not own up for his "head hunting" of Dach. Eventually he did and Dach settled it up.
