But, Habs obviously went for BIG with Thorpe & Merrill, but was 5th/6th round so not gonna bitch too much. I guess when I asked that question I was looking for somebody specific instead of Thorpe which Commandant provided. There will probably always be a difference of opinion on who is a legitimate home run pick.

BCHabnut
4 hours ago, Commandant said: All 5th rounders are dice rolls, but I like Luke Misa in that round. Justin Poirier has the 5'7" scorer who teams are overlooking due to size dynamic but I can see an argument that we have enough of those in our system. I was also hoping Misa would be a hab. I paid attention to them, because they're my friends nephews. Looks like a little ball of energy.
DON
Hutson stars, Reinbacher, Mešár impress for Canadiens at Prospect Showdown (habseyesontheprize.com) "Adam Engström and Logan Mailloux were both good in both games. Engström showed what I expected him to show and Mailloux showed what allowed him to become a solid AHL player. They both have things to learn. When things broke down in the defensive zone, Mailloux still struggled to recover but that’s what main training camp is for. Engström skates great, but sometimes takes chances he shouldn’t because he thinks he can recover. By the second period, he seemed to make better choices. That leaves us with Reinbacher. I thought he was quite good. Some rust, to be sure, but Reinbacher was much better in the second game, where his ice time increased because of Mailloux’s 10 minute misconduct that went into the third period." DON
What I saw at Canadiens rookie camp: David Reinbacher’s sphere of influence - The Athletic (nytimes.com) "...It is a game rooted in simplicity, which the Canadiens had to remind him of last season when director of player development Rob Ramage made a visit to Kloten and showed Reinbacher video of Shea Weber to prove that simple can be highly effective." Habs Fan in Edmonton
"Reports out of Montreal suggest Josh Anderson had a very industrious summer" This doesn't surprise me at all. I expect a bounce back year for Josh. He must have been embarrassed by last year.

Pezzetta-Evans-Pearson all have better S%, but i guess his 6.4% cant get much lower.

I am still focusing on "individual improvement by youngsters" rather than "wins" ... if the former leads to the latter, great ... but the latter absent the former is not meaningful to me ... but I understand your perspective. I think it goes without saying that we all want to see the youngsters improve and if Josh can improve on top of that then all the better. Josh is not, I-M-O, a part of the long-term solution ... so, as I said previously, if he improves perhaps they can get rid of him without it costing too much to do so. I don't think he is part of the long term solution either and if Josh improving results in him being more marketable then great. Just saying there are other benefits to the team if he improves other than just being more marketable.
Prime Minister Koivu
I fear that St. Louis is going to screw everything up by: Laine - Dach - Anderson Marty insisted on using Anderson top 6 for half the damned season before finally changing it up. Please don’t do this Marty! Pretty sure that was to try to get Anderson going. Ultimately it didn't pay off, but it's not an uncommon practice. I think it’s common practice to play struggling players with great players to try and get the struggling player going - but not for half a season! A game or three but not 40 games. I want Anderson to play well and score this season but I hope he does it on the third line.
