That was a game that truly looked and felt like a preseason game.  Yikes.  The power play is in midseason form already.

YUP ... but was nice to see Connor Hughes acquit himself decently.

He's been quite good in Switzerland so it's not a total shock, but it's good to see that he's not scared of NHL players--it was his first pro game in North America!

From the stands, this game was boring as #### for the most part.

Among the youngsters I wanted to see the most, I liked Mesar and Beck.

Difficult for Farrell and Florian.  Pezzetta did his job very well though, trying to secure 12th-13th spot I guess.

Not sure I agree with our writer about Mailloux deserving 3rd star. I preferred Struble's game to be honest.

Montembeault was quite good, a couple real good saves from the slot.

Can't be arsed to find it but St. Louis talked very positively about Reinbacker, especially his play without the puck - something that has been echoed by Engles, Basu

I bet he spends the season in Laval and is a likely call up when Savard gets traded.

He looked okay. Matheson and him struggled at times. Kinda felt like he needs to ride the AHL full time this season.  He'll get there.

He noted that he also took Monday's game into the equation for Mailloux's placement there.  On its own from last night, I agree, he wasn't in their top three.

Leafs and Habs tonight (Thursday Sept 26 @ 7pm) is a nationally televised game so us poor saps without RDS can watch 🎉

Will be stuck doing conference calls most of the evening tonight but will have the game on mute on the second screen. 😊 Looking forward to seeing not only Laine but also Hutson and Kapanen.

From the looks of it we will be going with a “B” squad tonight.

most of our starters were skating earlier than normal practice time.

Yep - This isn’t exactly what I was hoping for.

Will be great to watch Hutson at least

It will be interesting to see how both Xhekaj-Engström fare against a more NHL-heavy lineup, presuming they are the top pairing.

It is curious to see Hutson with Barron because they are both offensive.

It will be good to watch Engstrom too because I haven’t seen him play in a long time.

Another Habs reporter has the defence opposite of Basu so IDK 🤷‍♂️

Basu's make more sense to me ... I-M-O, Hutson seems unlikely to get top pairing minutes in this situation ... don't think MSL et al are "throw the kid in the deep-end" types.

With this being the road game of the two, that's not too surprising.  They'll save their better lineup for the home fans.

Toronto and Montreal used to cooperate on their rosters in the preseason, alternating which city got two teams of 'A' rosters and which got the prospects/tryouts rather than both teams putting their better guys at home and not much on the road to make for a better game but I think that ended when Julien was let go.
