Great Commentary By Francois Gagnon!

Francois Gagnon is highly regarded by the English Quebec media and the French media as one of the few media members who is in tune with how the team functions. He's realistic, down to earth and does a great job covering the Canadiens. So let's take his opinion with a huge quantity of salt, because of all the commentary that was said this past month about Theodore, his makes the most sense.

It might build up even more those who want Theo gone, but let's all be honest. If Gainey keeps his patience, keeps Theo and he wins us 1 or 2 playoff rounds, no one will be taking ownership of any of the comments we've read today, yesterday and all the days prior.

Way to go Francois!

The way he draws a line between Theo's struggles and Roy's struggles is insane.

Roy did struggle from time to time but he was incredible more than shit.

Theo in my and many other's opinion has never been great. It is MY OPINION that Theo played well for 20 games and that was enough to gain him some tophies and a big contract.

20 games is far from what Roy did.

Theo has never been an elite goalie and sure as shit won't become one now.

Ship him off to Colorado and let him suck there. As far as I'm concerned Colorado owes us one.

This guy also suggested that Lappy is not worth it. Are you joking?

Lappy is a MUCH more skilled Begin with Rivet leadership qualities.

Who deosn't want that?

Lappy is awesome. Hard worker well respected we all know that also he is having the year of his life why would Colorado trade him.

As for the article it is a bit ridiculous Theo and Roy are completely different let us remember Roy had won 2 cups by the time he was Theo’s age.

That's right. With alot better teams and alot better coaching and alot better organizational focus on a single goal. Our team started to be pretty regular in '92. We were surprise Cup winners in '93, due in large part to Roy (But the leadership of Demers played a role too), but besides that period, Roy couldn't lift the team to great heights either. And during moments fans started questionning him.

Roy was better than Theo. And that was Gagnon's point. We had a much better goalie than Theo and when he struggled the fans were on him too and rumors started going around. Only to see him dominate the league, more or less, for another 6-7 years after Montreal.

Habs fan lacks patience, much like Toronto fans, but it seems the team reactions to that impatience much more sensitively than the Leaf's organization. Theo's 01-02 season was outstanding. It wasn't 20 games or so, it was the entire season, at least from mid-november through to mid-may. (even though trophy voting does not include the playoffs). Every single playoff season that Theo was apart of he won the team something no one thought of. In '96 his first playoff game, he beat the Devils in double OT. HIS FIRST PLAYOFF GAME!!! In 02', he allowed us to beat the Bruins with some amazing play, and we would have probably have one the second round too if Bill Lindsay wasn't available for the face-off. And in 04, he gave the team a shutout win in Game 7! If that was Roy, there would be talks of a heroic performance two years after.

But because this city and this fanbase is dieing for some legitamate, consistent success and element of the organization that is percieved a threat to any such success is criticized until it's eliminated.

I don't know if Theo will get out of his slump, but don't say he was never in the top 5-10 goalies in the league and one point.
