Game #10 Seattle @ Montreal, 7pm EST October 29th 2024

Just a poor effort all round. Sorry but Xhekaj is not a d-man on anything other than a bottom feeder. Also have to question the coaching, we seem to come out cold in 1st Period.

Newhook and Armia.  One of Dach's biggest problems on the 2nd line is they all have a pass first mentality.

Armia is a playmaker, like Savard is a Norris candidate.

How the hell do you get blown out

like this at home against a team like Seattle - it's only half way through the second friggin period.

I get that we won't make the playoffs this year, but there's a nasty trend here. WE get blown out of the water way too often and too many times we're not ready when the game starts!

When you can't play defence, that's what happens. Beyond the question of team structure - or lack thereof - we simply have too many young defencemen who screw up and get overwhelmed too often.

Worst game in years. Bad luck and poor effort. Bad combo.

Only positive is that it’s a part of the learning process. Kraken clearly shows that you get blown out of the water and punished badly when you’re not ready.

However, I don’t think it really change anything in the long run.

Absolutely nothing changes.

Part of the process.

WiFi has had maybe one good game in eight this season and he was pretty dodgy last season too.

You may be right, unfortunately

The more I see of Xhekaj's lack of development as he struggles, the more I think that he should be converted to a 4th line winger.

I agree, everything that could go wrong did go wrong tonight.  A couple bad deflections early, some bad giveaways that ended up in the net. Some bad coverage. I was really looking forward to watching this game and it was over after 10 minutes. It sucked. They will bounce back.

Mailloux 3pts in 5 games

Matheson 9pts in 10 games

Would of been a sweet 1st goal, but Hutson hit post, he is bound to get one soon

Struble is on a 2 game point 'streak'.:D

Something is not right with Arber right now. That give away for the 4th goal was just a lack of focus. No excuse for it. He is struggling with the mental part of his game.

Basu and Godin think he is overthinking and not processing the quick decisions to play the hybrid defensive system and its affecting all parts of his game

Thinking instead of playing natural.

Yeah, something is not right. He is definitely not enjoying himself right now, his body language is not good.

The immediate worry for me about this team, is how last year most losses were by the odd goal. Whereas this year, we are losing by 3 (at least) each time.

Seems to be, get on top of us early and we have no fight to come back. Is this reflective of a change of system, because most of the personnel is the same.

The biggest change from last season is St. Louis’s new hybrid defence system.

Habs are dead last in 5 on 5 defensive matrices.

Perhaps Marty’s new system is crap?

You know it’s bizzaro night in Montreal when we eat 8 and Anderson scores.

Not Bizarro- Anderson scores a meaningless goal during garbage time.

Or 3rd game in 4 nights was a factor, and still missing Guhle for sure? And Hutson, Mailloux, Struble aint got a ton of NHL games under their belts, add in a couple of stoppable shots wiffed on by goalies.

Is Barron better than Mailloux or Xhekaj, last 2 games before injury he seemed to be.

I would say Anderson 'earned' that goal and was nice to see.

I didnt think Xhekaj was too bad, aside from obvious "matheson-like" gaff.

10 Thoughts: Another Tuesday Letdown – HabsWorld.net

10) With Guhle and Barron nearing a return, there’s going to be some jockeying for position to stay in the lineup.  Mailloux did well offensively but once again showed that defensively, he’s not quite up to snuff at the NHL level just yet.  Xhekaj didn’t have a great game to help his chances while Jayden Struble held his own.  With how poorly things went, it wouldn’t shock me if both Mailloux and Xhekaj are out of the lineup on Thursday in Washington, assuming the other two are ready to return.

Well ... yes, but no. There were defensive mistakes, and odd bounces that resulted in goals. And Seattle had the better goaltending. Overall, though, the score really didn't reflect the flow of the game, Habs were the stronger team for much of the game (and both the Corsi and xG stats support this) but simply couldn't get the puck into the back of the net.
