Habs have achieve their goal for the year, "to be in the mix". It would be fun to watch them in the first round, but I am as happy if they do not make it given the progress of individual players. And of course, Demidov now having had a taste of Montreal Quote
xXx..CK..xXx Posted April 16, 2025 Author Posted April 16, 2025 For what it’s worth, here are the poll results thus far: If HabsWorld has the knowledge that we believe we do, well, no one voted for Columbus. It would have to take a real upset for them to qualify and make it! Quote
Commandant Posted April 16, 2025 Posted April 16, 2025 Yeah "wanted it more" is just lazy analysis. As if both teams dont desperately want to make the playoffs. Its worse than even the "clutch" discussion 1 Quote
hab29RETIRED Posted April 17, 2025 Posted April 17, 2025 I hope it's Saturday. Have a family commitment Sunday. If its Sunday may have to get hockey flu! Quote

It’s going to be a long time before something like this happens with the Habs again. Just so many weeks of being in close with 4 other teams for one specific spot. There was a little point where Ottawa came into the picture for the Habs, and Pittsburgh (having played 2 more games) snuck within 2 points of the New York Islanders near the end but it was always the same 5 teams in the race, and it came right down to the last game of the season. Well done Habs. Quote

xXx..CK..xXx Posted April 17, 2025 Author Posted April 17, 2025 I’m flying to Europe on Friday so I will have to figure out how to stream in the middle of the night. Monday wouldn’t be bad for me as the later the better. I arrive back the following Saturday so the more games when I’m back home the better for me. I’d probably only be gone for 3 games if it starts next Monday. Quote

Not sure if that will be written in stone though. Toronto also plays tomorrow. Would SportNet not push to have the all Canadian Toronto-Sens game on Saturday night? Washington plays a lot of afternoon games - so who knows we may end up getting an afternoon game on Sunday? Quote
DON Posted April 17, 2025 Posted April 17, 2025 Just too bad its Sportsnet and not TSN showing the Hab games. Nick Suzuki and the young Canadiens are out to prove more people wrong in the playoffs - The Athletic Suzuki was the one who said the rest of the league was sleeping on his team and its ability to make the playoffs. He was the one who not only went to general manager Kent Hughes just before the 4 Nations Face-Off break and asked him not to break up the team at the trade deadline, but also had the gumption to go public with it. He came out of that break as one of the NHL’s top scorers down the stretch to drive the Canadiens to a 15-5-6 finish that resulted in this moment. Quote

xXx..CK..xXx Posted April 18, 2025 Author Posted April 18, 2025 Columbus is leading their final game 5-0 against the Islanders. In the end, it’s pretty impressive that the Habs clinched a playoff spot despite Columbus ending the season on a 6 game winning streak. Quote
