But that doesn't mean I'm okay with my character being called into question, rather than the context of my posts. I've been pretty gosh darn polite in all of my posts and responses, and genuine in all of my rebuttals. I expect the same in return, and I don't think that's too much to ask. You, him and everyone else are free to do so, but that doesn't mean that myself or anyone else doesn't have cause to call it our for being unnecessary or unsportsmanlike. Quote

It wasn't my intention to imply that we aren't a young team, just that our average age is slightly skewed in part due to our lack of 35+ players, and that rarely (if at all) gets mentioned. My point being that I don't think we aren't quite as inexperienced as that average suggests. Who is really arguing though. Is it the person who said... average age is an objective fact. Or someone who said... well actually its misleading cause of ...... Im not arguing at all. Im just stating that the math is the math and this is a very young team. Quote
DON Posted July 6, 2025 Posted July 6, 2025 2020 5th rounder. Habs re-sign Jakub Dobes to two-year deal – HabsWorld.net "As things stand, Dobes should be viewed as the favourite for the backup position behind Montembeault for next season with recently signed veteran Kaapo Kahkonen also in the mix. Notably, Dobes has one more year of waiver exemption and if he’s sent down at any point (be it losing the backup battle or some short-term demotions to get spot starts in Laval), his cap hit will come off the books entirely." Since joining this group I've seen you play this "moral grandstanding" card more than anyone. I've seen you center in on a guy for saying "Canadian bottom six vs European bottom six", I've seen you center in on the another's (perceived) emphasis on the use of the word "she", leveling implications, if not out right accusations of misogyny. You do this as if to say "sit down and shut up". You do what you want. I think it's low class and a cheap, uncalled for debate tactic. To each their own. You can go ahead and save the world, I'm just here to talk Hockey. I'm just not going to sit back and let my character get smeared in the process. To imply that I don't take mental health (or any type of condition) seriously just because I think it's unreasonable to expect a professional hockey to have to accommodate for it is not an accusation that I can (in good conscience) let slide. Commandant Posted July 6, 2025 Posted July 6, 2025 Attack the post... not the poster. Show me where Ive made a personal attack. Its always at the contents of the post. We are here to discuss and debate. If the contents of a post cant be debated then there is no reason for a message board to exist. Ive always gone after the contents of posts. You want to go after me peraonally for that.... well then, ill let the mods deal with that. Quote

Habs Fan in Edmonton Posted July 6, 2025 Posted July 6, 2025 22 minutes ago, DON said: What are odds Reinbacher makes opening day roster? Good question. On one hand Reinbacher is only 20 and hardly played last year so you would think some time in Laval would be good for him. On the other hand Savard retired and the Habs traded Mailloux which means they expect him to be a regular at some point. I think it depends entirely on what kind of camp he has. If he has a mediocre camp then he likely heads to Laval with one of the lefties playing the right side to start the year. Quote

I think its a much higher chance, he goes to Laval, dominates and we see him at midseason. Maybe we deal matheson for a centre.... or we deal struble as part of a package for a rental C ar that point and Reinbacher is ready. Part of it is just how many games he missed 1 Quote

Commandant Posted July 6, 2025 Posted July 6, 2025 In my scenario Hutson starts on RD cause thats where he finished last year and if Matheson is traded he moves back to.LD. 1 Quote
Prime Minister Koivu Posted July 6, 2025 Posted July 6, 2025 Roslovic still unsigned. He would be a good short term third line centre and to push Dach out of 2C possibly. Laine - Roslovic - Newhook as the third line. Habs probably want a 2 year deal but Roslovic probably wants 5. Quote

Just a perfectly factual comment: mental health is a very serious thing. We have had other players struggle with it in the past, both on the Habs and elsewhere--not to mention all the people outside of hockey. It's a real, serious problem and I think all of us should recognize that. Quote

Not really interested in Roslovic, would rather save the cap space for other opportunities that might pop up during the season. He was a healthy scratch in many of Carolina's playoff games, 14 points in 45 playoff games, .5pts/game during the regular season, only marginally better than Dach's output. I would rather go with Dach and wait for other opportunities. Quote
Commandant Posted July 6, 2025 Posted July 6, 2025 If roslovic was left handed Id be more interested. Quote

He's been connected to the Leafs and is willing to wait to let them try to open up cap space. Considering it was suggested that the Habs felt they couldn't afford to keep Armia at 2.5, I don't think they're a feasible landing spot for Roslovic now who's likely to get more than that. Quote

Seems like the Leafs have cap space now, even if they didn't I believe they can go over a certain amount before the season starts. Don't see why the Leafs would be interested as they got an excellent 3c in Roy. I don't think Roslovic is Berube's type of player Quote
Commandant Posted July 6, 2025 Posted July 6, 2025 to me, he'd have to be a stop gap. And I kinda like him. I'd do it. It would be a no-brainer if he was a lefty. the righty thing complicates things and the Habs may be waiting for the Lefty who can kill penalties at this point. I think management is thinking we can make do with Dach/Newhook in the 2 role to start the season, but we need to replace Dvorak. Quote
Prime Minister Koivu Posted July 7, 2025 Posted July 7, 2025 Is Evans strong enough or skilled enough for 3C? Laine - Evans - Newhook Anderson - Beck/Kapanen - Gallagher Beck looked decent at times and not great at other times in the few games that he played last year. Insulated between two vets Beck might do all right. My preference is a trade but this set up might work Quote
tomh009 Posted July 7, 2025 Posted July 7, 2025 My inclination would be to keep Evans with Anderson and Gallagher as that combo seems to work well together. But we'll find out what St-Louis thinks after the dog days of summer when the training camp starts ... Quote
