Didn't think I'd be creating a playoff thread this year yet ...

Well. You need to make sure there is a stop sign in it! Hell, all the fans should be given stop signs for game 3!

I’ll just leave this here.

Apparently the Habs are the youngest NHL team ever (how many years do they have records for though?) to qualify for the playoffs at an average of 25.92 years.

They have birthdates of every player who has ever played in the NHL.  This isn't that hard to do for even the 1920s.

Its not something like Shots on Goal, or plus/minus that wasn't recorded in the early years.

Good for the future and interesting tidbit.

Doubt is good for this years playoffs success though.

Four days off--most excellent!

All should benefit from time off, numerous bottom six guys like Anderson, Armia, Evans been nursing nagging stuff and Gallagher appeared banged up yesterday.

Not certain anything other than the summer months will help Anderson and Armia

The Capitals lose their final game 5-2 to the Penguins. Yes, with an AHL goalie, but xG was still 3.8-2.7 in Pittsburgh's favour.

They closed the season on 4-6 slide. However, they still had a +56 goal differential for the season, rather better than the Habs.

Not sure what Andrerson hurt awhile ago? He is still pretty quick for a big guy and physical.

Armia looked good in last couple games.

Evans dosent seem the same player since signing contract:devil: (1pt in last 5, 4pts in last 14), also supposedly some kind of injury?

Possibly some approximate birthdays in the case of a certain country ;)

So what lineup are people wanting to see?

Dailyfaceoff has...

Caufield-Suzuki-Slaf

Laine-Newhook-Demidov

Gally-Dvorak-Anderson

Heineman-Evans-Armia

Sit: Kapanen, Pezzeta

Matheson-Carrier

Guhle-Hutson (has Hutson really been playing rd?)

Struble-Savard

Sit: Xhejak

That's probably the lineup.

Hutson's best play has been RD.  He moved there when paired with Struble and hasn't looked back.  Its been this latest stretch he's got his most points and best advanced stats.

Now that doesn't mean moving to RD is why that has happened, he's also young and has improved virtually every month all season long.  But the move to the Right didn't slow him down at all.

Could Heinemen be a good fit instead of Laine for Demidov? Heinemen still has a shot and is better 5 on 5 no?

I think if the defence for that line becomes a problem, they will go back to Armia again, just cause his vet status and cause that was what St. Louis started Demidov's first game with.

The elephant in the room that no one has said with Heineman is that since coming back from getting hit by a car, he doesn't look the same player as before that.  He had another injury spell too.  Maybe he's playing through something like Armia and Anderson clearly are.

He seems a bit snakebit lately, perhaps will get hot at right time?

0.67pts/gm, 0.33g/gm in playoffs (just 24gms)

0.79pts/gm, 0.42g/gm in reg season (532gms)

If Hutson plays best at RD (!!!!) then that is definitely where he should stay. Holy crap, for him to be THAT good and a RD to boot…the kid is a unicorn.

Anderson (it seems) has taken more maintenance days than participated in practices for at least a couple of months ... Armia doesn't seem to be able to shoot the puck, but otherwise his game seems unaffected ... both deserve kudos for toughing it out, but whatever their injuries neither are going to substantially benefit from anything but long-term rest.

Evans is the same player, he just isn't playing way over his head offensively any more ... that bubble was always going to burst at some point.

I would love for Arber to get into the lineup. If the bottom pair is only going to get 10-15 minutes, might as well have him in there for the intimidation factor.

He just is much better skater than Savard.

But, coaches seem to like him over Arber, they see as safer option, good on PK and also is RH.
