The Sportsnet broadcast just mentioned that since Laine rejoined the Habs after his injury, both teams were fairly similar in their record. Is that a good reason? What about a banged up starting goalie for the Caps, or their other injuries? What about the best prospect outside the NHL joining the Habs a week ago? What about the Caps letdown after the goal record? Washington hasn't won a round since their Cup win 6 years ago, and only have a few players on that roster, why are they so favored here?

Playoffs or not, after the whistle or not, they should be calling the crosscheck Gallagher took to the face.  There's never an acceptable time or situation to crosscheck someone in the face and the league has been suspending players for doing it.

I thought the period was pretty even.  Good saves by Thompson too. 

 

Shots were 15-13.  This isn't the Philly game.

Monty played great first period, and they weathered the storm.  The real story is the inconsistent officiating.  A few players wrestling and rabbit punching gives Washington the PP where a crosscheck to the face was perfectly acceptable .

It gets sickening re: Putin's BF, but he is the game's greatest scorer, so understandable.

 

Nice to see Monty and Evans getting props during the intermission. They deserve it - both were awesome that period.
