Phew. Carney handled Trump as well as anyone could. The main “win” would probably be that Trump respects him. This is different from moving that jackass toward a more reasonable position, but it’s something. Notably, the administration seems to be retreating from the massive damage it’s inflicted in a mere four months, given Vance’s comical “mistakes were made” speech in Europe recently and the shrinkage of tariffs against China announced this morning. The very early indications are that Carney understands the assignment. But will he be able to move the apparatus of government, known for its sclerotic tendencies, in the desired direction? We shall see. I agree with your assessment. You can be great friends with someone until you start talking politics. LOL Anyway, I hope Carney's words are more than just talk. I consider myself a fiscal conservative (governments waste too much money) but more of a social liberal. I simply could not vote liberal the past election because their economic record the past 9 years has been abysmal. If you look at Canada's GDP per capita growth the past 9 years compared to any other industrialized country, it's abysmal. You need growth to pay for our social programs or you can take the easy way out and continue to raise taxes. I hope Carney is more than just talk. I am certainly no fan of Trump, I could go on and on but I won't. I will say this though with 100%certainty. Trump pays attention to the stock market.
